Default hello- just starting out

hi everyone- this is my first post here, and the first step in what I hope to be some positive changes.

I'm an OSU student, 22 years old- I took a couple of years off for financial reasons, stayed below 200 pounds, and never felt better- but when I came back to school a little over a year ago my stress eating kicked in and I gained almost 100 pounds in a year.

Needless to say, my self-image (and therefore social life) have suffered greatly- that's a huge change in a year- but in the last few months I think I've started to get atleast a little more comfy in this big body... it's been a tough road.

My health has been going nuts with all the extra Kelly to deal with- gallbladder problems, circulation problems, breathing problems, and I got diagnosed with sleep apnea a while back (cause or effect? Hard to tell).

I'm at such a high risk with my family history for heart disease and diabetes, I feel like everytime I pick up another cookie I'm needlessly risking my life...sad thing is, it always makes me feel better (for a while...) and taking it one day at a time, I always find myself thinking: "today, I'll eat whatever I want because right now the most important thing is keeping the stress down so I can do what I need to."

So I yo-yo alot, eating really well for anywhere up to 4 days, then having a really stressful day and thinking "eating comfort food is necessary today, but tomorrow...".

I've read a lot about nutrition for years, so I know how I should be eating- to lose weight, feel full, and still have the energy I need. But when it comes down to the stress, good food just doesn't replace comfort food, and a lot of it.

I'm sure a lot of you know the drill. So, experienced stress eaters out there- any advice? I know that everyone's different, but maybe some of your experiences with finding new ways to deal with the stress will work for me.
