Default I can't diet

I hope that this site can help motivate me to lose weight. I've weighed 180 since I was 15, (except for a brief period when I lost 15 lbs.) and I have such a hard time controlling my eating and getting in exercise. I've never been able to stay on a diet for more than a few days and whenever I step up my exercising I get SO hungry. And now that I'm at college it seems like I have less and less time to do it. I really hate being as big as I am and I'm determined to lose weight over the next few months. I'm going to cut sugar out of my diet and limit my carbs and start exercising for 30 minutes at least 3 times a week as a start.

Hi there . . . . . . Don't worry, dieting doesn't work anyway. You've definitely got to change your eating habits and lifestyle not just cut down on the quantity of food. Cutting out sugar and limiting carbs is a good start . . . just be sure to incorporate lots of healthy, low fat protein and lots of high fibre fruits and vegetables.

Have a great day, Chickie and remember that we are always here to cheer you on as you travel the sometimes bumpy road to better health and fitness.

Congratulations on taking the first step. Think of it as eating for health and not as a diet. Exercising and cutting out sugar is a good start.

Morning! Congratulations, we were the same size and in the same boat. That's exactly what I did, I just cut out the sugars, went for more proteins and veggies than pastas and other carbs and started on my way. It took me a year to get this far but I haven't "dieted" once. The key is make the good eating days outnumber your iffy ones, don't beat yourself up because nothing is off limits and get out and exercise a bit. I do 20 minues every other day. Nothing over the top. Resist going for the quick fix. Enjoy yourself and welcome...
