Height: 5'9 - 40 and fabulous!

Default Newbee-1week 2 days and counting

I'm new to this forum...but I thought it might be a good experience for me to join a group such as this and share my experience. This is not something I've ever done before...so here it goes...

I recently started Atkins just 1 week and 2 days ago. My biggest problem, I feel, is my hate for the taste of water and my undying addition to diet soda! yes...yes...i'm the typical "I'll have a double cheeseburger, fries and a 'diet coke'!" However, over the last week I really haven't struggled to maintain my new better eating habits. The only thing I do not follow is the "no fruit" during induction thing. I've done Atkins before...quite successfully (losing over 30 lbs and reaching my goal of a size 6!) But with no time for myself (I own 3 businesses), I've packed the pounds on over the last year from a sleek 150lb to a whopping 185 lbs! Fearing something had to be done before the point of no return, I decided that I was tired of being tired and now was the time to do something.

My friends/family think that when I'm dieting, I get obsessed and all I can talk about it food, nutrition and weight loss and look at me like I'm a finatical maniac...in fact, talking about it helps keep me focused...almost like I need to hear it more than they do.

I hope this goes well and look forward to logging in every day and hopefully encouraging others as well as myself. Sorry for the long winded message, but it's my first day.

P.S. I haven't worked out at all sadly (I have a gym at home, i.e., lifefitness, vectra double stack, etc...nothing but the best clothing racks for me!) I have lost 5 lbs the first week though. Please someone help me find time to workout! week 1: 185lbs week 2: 180 lbs...goal: 150lbs...can someone tell me how to insert this "weight tracker" thing.

Welcome, bambifox! Congrats on losing 5lbs! The best way I've found to fit fitness into a busy schedule (for me at least) is to combine it with something I'm already doing. I leave myself an hour or more each night for watching tv (gotta watch the news and scrubs) so I just work out in front of the tv. I hope you find something that works for you! And great job so far with the dieting!

Welcome and you're off to a great start!

I'm new as of today too, lol. I just found out that we can't have a signature till we've been here about 30 days. Not fair huh?

Hey Bambi, and

Have you found our Low Carb forums yet? Head on over and get to chatting!

I also try to combine fitness with things I already do, whether it is doing squats while cooking dinner or watching tv while doing cardio.

Congrats on your losses so far, and I can't wait to see you around soon!

I found the best way to slowly incorporate fitness in is to start small. I set my alarm for 5 minutes early the first day and did 5 minutes on the elliptical. I did that for a week, then slowly made it a few extra minutes over the next couple weeks. Now I am almost up to 30 minutes a day. If I had tried to start with something higher I would never have made myself get up and never would stick to it.
Good LUCK AND WELCOME TO THE BOARDS.
