Unhappy Hi everyone, new and more than a little confused

I was reading my February issue of Oprah and found the article talking about the blog websites and thought I would give it a try. I mean, I am 36 and have lost and gained several hundred pounds over my life. My boss and my best friend have had gastric bypass and have both lost tons of weight. (they both look great and frankly, I am more that a little bit jealous) But my insurance doesn't cover it and I sure can't afford it so here I am, at 213. I have lost about 30 pounds over the last year but I can't seem to stick with the whole healthy eating thing. This site seems like a support group so hopefully it will help. My husband has lost 70 pounds over the last year and a half and probably needs to lose another 50. He is in the same rut I am. All of our friends are thin and it is hard to socialize and stay healthy. Truthfully, sometimes I would like to hit my skinny friends with a brick when they whine about being "fat". Oh, ok, fatty in a size 4. Try shopping in the tent section of the department store. Not that I am bitter...Actually, I am usually a very upbeat and happy person, just kind of down right now. Anyway, has anyone found a plan or "diet" (I know I need a lifestyle change) that has helped keep them motivated? I just bought Bob Greene's best life diet book, has anyone tried that?

Welcome! My homepage health tip this morning said something like this ....The best way to start eating healthier is to log everything you eat for 3 days. The first step in changing for the better -- see how often you eat 5 fruits and vegetables a day ... I think that's good advice.
