Default Hi all

I am new here and need some support. I am currently at my absolute heaviest of 245 lbs. I am 5'7". I lost 50lbs about 7 years ago on WW and was a lifetime member for about 4 years. Then I slowly started gaining back weight and then after I had my first child I never lost any of the weight. 2 years later I had my second child and never lost any of that weight either and have since gained some. I am sick of being fat and unhealthy. I want to be able to do fun things with my kids and not have to worry about not fitting in the seats at amusement parks or getting out of brreath. We joined a gym 2 months ago and I have yet to go. I am too embarrassed to step foot in there with as big as I am. I just need some support and encouragement to get me started on this journey. Thanks.

Get to the gym -- I'm horizontally challenged as well and the first two weeks were not the best, VERY self conscious, but after a while you realize everyone there is trying to exercise and not terribly interested in what you are doing! And, my gym watches my kids -- which is another plus!! So, while I exercise my 3 year old gets to play with other kids -- how cool is that. I also notice I eat much, much better when I'm exercising. I try to go five days a week and I do well, weekends I can't go and my eating gets a little out of control.

I'm with you -- I can't go on rides with my kids and it's sad I was actually happy this summer that my 7 year old and 3 year old were finally old enough to accompany each other on rides, because I hated having to squish my stomach so the bar would go down!! I've only lost 20 but can now play with them more, get up off the floor faster and we even play tag/running games, which I've never been able to do with them. So even a little change will make you feel amazing.

Are you going back to WW? It seems to have worked awesome for you before. And, it may seem like a lot to lose, but you know you can do it right? You've done it before and now you just need to commit that this is the absolute last time. Good luck and it's going to be tough but the rewards are so awesome!!!

Thumbs up Welcome, Skarloey!

Skarloey!

Thanks for coming in!

When I was at my heaviest, I felt the same way as you did. I would rather have DIED than to set foot in a gym with all the skinnies. So I bought Billy Blank's tae bo, and it worked like a charm. I felt like a big fat, clumsy idiot at first, but once I got the hang of it, and the weight started coming off, I was hooked, and got better and better at it.

Eventually, I lost enough weight to have the nerve to set foot in the gym (in spandex!! OMG! ) You can either try my -wardly approach, and make a dent in your fitness in the privacy of your home, or you can just brave it and try the gym. One thing I can tell you thought, is that unless you attend a gym with a bunch of kids in it, NO ONE will laugh or make fun of you. Actually, quite the opposite. You will get lots of help and support along the way, just like you will here.

Just wanted to give you a welcome and my 2 cents, for what it's worth.

Hi and welcome! You've come to the right place for inspiration, tips and help. Tell us a little more about what you like to eat and do for exercise and we'll help you find some threads where you'll feel right at home.

Thank you for the warm welcome. I know that I need to get the gym. It is just getting over the hump that will be the worst. When I did WW before I was committed to the gym and went all the time and actually enjoyed it. But, that was before I had kids and could easily go right after work. My gym does have child care but I haven't really checked it out yet. I am not doing WW right now and I am not sure if I should start. I know the program well enough to do it by myself but then I am not being held accountable. I am just feeling pretty overwhelmed right now. It is going to be so hard to start because I don't even think about what I put in my mouth right now. It is going to be a huge change.

Welcome, I'm sure you've heard it before keep a food dairy. Many people here use fitday.com. It's free unless you purchase the software package. You can put in your exercise also. Journal your daily thoughts. I never used it until I came to this site. Since using it I lost 10 lbs. in 5 weeks. Hope to hear from you and post often. I have learned so much in the past weeks. I thought I knew everything about the weight battle. I was wrong.
