Tofu?!
Being a vegetarian on IP is really hard! All I can have for protein is eggs and tofu, which is fine, I still lose quite a bit. But, what kind of tofu is okay to eat? I think there's a different between soft tofu, medium, and firm tofu with calories, protein and fat. I was wondering if someone had information about this? I tried looking all over the internet and no google searches have helped me. I've been eating only soft tofu because I was once told it had less fat, but if I can eat firmer tofu I would since its easier to cook. Anyways, any help would be great.

mrinaliniv92: Here's a nutritional facts site on firm tofu - more useful than soft. Soft tofu would be a waste of your time as it is too low in protein to be useful as a main part of your diet on IP.
http://vegetarian.about.com/od/healt...unutrition.htm a 1/2c serving of firm tofu is only the same fat as 1 egg, so not a concern at all. quote from wikipedia: "Tofu is relatively high in protein, about 10.7% for firm tofu and 5.3% for soft "silken" tofu, with about 5% and 2% fat respectively, as a percentage of weight." another site with very detailed nutritional profile of Firm tofu: http://www.whfoods.com/genpage.php?t...spice&dbid=111 |
