Default Help! Shaker bottle about to explode..or something

I made the chili in my shaker bottle using the microwave. The top was off while cooking. I took it out of the microwave and put the top on and carefully walked back to my desk. I put it down and went back to work while it cooled. I looked over a few minutes later and it look like it was wearing a corset. Kinda scared it is going to explode so I put it in a garbage bag...help.

Air/liquids expand as they are heated. As the contents and the air cooled, they required less volume and created a vacuum in the sealed environment. The fact that the plastic of the shaker was warm from the contents made it more malleable and it was sucked in by the vacuum. If it has had long enough to cool in the new position, you will have trouble getting it back to the original shape.

I've seen the same shaker at Bed Bath & Beyond, Whole Foods, and Stop & Shop. You could probably pick one up tonight if you really needed to.

The ball is the most important part. You can pop that into any water bottle with an opening big enough and still shake up cold drinks. You could use it in a mason jar for hot things.

I would if we had any at my work.

I'll stop at bed bath and beyond tonight. Crisis averted...I wanted that chili though lol. I found a stash of Premier Protein shakes, they'll get me through the day.

Thanks

GNC and most healthfood shops stock them now.

I know it may not be ideal but I just heated the water in a kettle and poured it in a coffee cup with the soup, and then stirred vigorously. It worked for me.

I would NOT COOK IN THE SHAKER!! It is plastic and not a healthy cooking/microwaving vehicle.

My Clinic told us never to use the shaker in the microwave. Glad your crisis was averted though.
