The TMI thread

I'm in week five of phase 1. I have only lost five lbs total since starting. Here is the TMI part: past few days I have been bloating really bad plus diarrhea throughout the day. I'm in ketosis (metallic taste in mouth and bad breath). I am not one bit hungry but my stomach is torn up.

Antone else with stomach problems on IP? Did you take anything for it or does it go away in a few days?

Did this just start recently? Have you noticed it after eating specific products or veggies? Some people have or develop sensitivities to soy or sucralose which can cause stomach upset. Are you using IP products or alternatives? Check the amount of sugar alcohols in what you are eating... They can cause gastrointestinal upset and some people are much more sensitive to them than others.

Also certain veggies cause more gas and stimach issues than others, try switching those up.

Five weeks in you probably should be looking at a bit higher loss, though that can depend on many factors, so it's not unheard of at 1 lb per week. Are you working with a coach? Are you certain you're 100% on protocol?

Are you taking digestive enzymes and probiotics? I found that at the start of the program my body was unused to processing so much protein and I had a lot of gas and cramping.

As your body adjusts you can phase them out, but it's really useful to find out if it's the change of macros that is problematic or the IP packet ingredients.

Are you possibly allergic to soy? Might be something to discuss with your coach. I had many of the same issues and they became bad enough that I dropped out of IP. Rebooting now with alternative (non-soy) products and I haven't had any issues.
