Yup . . . .my breast surgeon was only going to do the one and after I met with the plastic surgeon, he was like, no . . .you want to do both now. I'm so glad I did . . . and my breast surgeon didn't blink an eye. I went 9 months with no boobs. I can't imagine what it would have been like to try and match a prosthetic up. Granted, even if she didn't take the second, I was going to have it removed during reconstruction.
I started my chemo within 14 days of diagnosis . . . had a fantastic team of doctors. Surprising, they were not affiliated with the same hospitals or network of hospitals either! They all communicated very well together and all had my best interest in mind/heart.
Sorry for your losses, I can't even begin to imagine.

Which reminds me .... Ladies, if you have avoided going for your mammogram make sure you go this year, while you're on IP or very soon after you get into P3. Can't be too careful when your body is putting out more estrogen than normal. Better to detect any change early, than too late.

Hi everyone! Coming out of lurk-dom to give a quick intro. I started out just reading a few threads but I'm spending most of my Internet time here so I should get involved! I'm doing alternative products. I think the closest clinic is an hour away and with an 18 month old, I can't make that trek. I've been plump my whole life but I had a few times where I've last a lot of weight. I lost 45 lbs on WW in high school, then towards the end of my first marriage I lost a bunch. Unfortunately I got pregnant at 230 lbs and have been trying to take it off since!
I started the ketogenic diet (high fat low carb) Jan 6 and lost 24 lbs by the end of May, then last my resolve and bounced around 10 lbs until recently. I saw a testimonial of a woman who upped her protein and lowered fat and lost about a lb a day. I was intrigued. Someone mentioned ideal protein in a comment and it piqued my interest but promptly forgot the name until my friend mentioned it in the beginning of October. I already had isopure protein powder so I started that week! I've lost around 9 lbs in 2 weeks and I'm just thrilled. I can't wait to be in onederland soon!
My goal is to be 140 by August. We have a huge family vacation planned at the beach with my husband's family - - it's a celebration of 50 years of going to the same beach. Most of my husband's family is thin, 3 of them actually being professional ballerinas. A fair amount are spread out all over the country so I'm hoping to knock their socks off when I see them for the first time in a year+!

Welcome taffetadarling! Sounds like you are off to a good start!
And this board is addicting, isn't it? When I started I spent so much time reading old threads, recipe threads, etc. When I finally started posting I felt like I already knew everyone and their stories. This is a great place for support and information!

Hi Karrindell, and welcome! There's a really good thread (as well as getting on the Daily Chat) here for those working to get 100+ lbs off: Some are working through right now, and others are maintainers so lots of help there.

It really is addicting! I just found the Mixin in the kitchen threads and oh my goodness. Real food! Pinterest has been evil to me and I've been craving. Everyone here is awesome. I love seeing the results tickers, they're so motivating!

Hi, I am new here and this is my first post. I am 3 weeks and 3 days in on IP. (So far 100% successful at staying on the program with out cheats and doing everything on my sheet.) I have 25 pound goal. I have been reading along and learning as much as possible for the last several weeks. I have never used a sight like this so I hope I am posting in the correct place. It is a bit overwhelming for me.
My biggest challenges are drinking my water, sometimes I have to drink 32 oz before I go to bed! But, I get it done.
This site is a great place to learn about IP! I find myself learning here daily! Thanks everyone for all the great info.

Don't forget gals, as cooler weather approaches, hot herbal teas count as your water too...
My trick for getting everything in is 1 glass just after I weigh myself in the morning (I have to take pre-breaky pills), then a glass to take my vitamins after breakfast, then fill my 750 ml water bottle and drink it by lunch (5 glasses down). After lunch take my vitamins with another glass, and refill my 750 ml bottle to be done by bed. (9 glasses total)

Wow, great tip! I didn't realize tea would count towards your daily water intake, I have avoided it because I drink 2 cups of coffee a day and already have to makeup the 16oz of extra water to compensate for the coffee. I just figured tea and coffee were the same.

Nope - herbal teas and decaffeinated tea/coffee count toward your water intake. Only caffeinated tea/coffee needs to be made up with extra water, because the caffeine is a diuretic and can be dehydrating.
I keep at least 2 boxes of Celestial Seasonings herbal teas in my desk drawer at work, hot drinks tend to make me feel fuller and the flavors scratch my fruit itch
