Kooky: We love all of those veggies, especially jicama but it is only available at one store near us. Every time I have jicama I think "there must be an easier way to peel/cut this". Lol

Slip: We are having fun camping. There is nothing better then veggies from a garden, enjoy when they are ready. Did the rain hold off for your morning coffee on the deck?

Hiker: Glad your are still maintaining. Your comment about "daily choices and decisions" made perfect sense. I think this is always going to be something we need to work on, daily. Keep going.

Schenectady: You are doing fantastic on the program, keep it up. So exciting building a house. Also stressful, don't let stress make you turn to food or make bad choices.

So a couple of months when I had diet fatigue I gave myself until the beginning of July and then I was going to see if I should phase off for summer. Well I am very happy to report that I am not phasing off for summer!!! I am so close to goal and I want to get there sooner then later. I also have lots of events/mini vacations until the beginning of Sept so I know there will be some slips in there. And I want to have plenty of time to phase off properly, not try to fit it in between events. So I am sticking to this plan until Sept when life slows down and I can do this properly. Excited and proud of my decision.

My opinion is that is a GREAT decision. Although I still have a bit more to go than you (17 pounds), I want to see it straight through.

Ii is important for me to keep my focus sharp and intense so that I CAN and Do make it to goal.

I know that the maintenance and getting there will be incredibly important learning experiences for me and I want to be able to be fully in the moment.

That was a big decision for you and I think you made the right decision. Stay on track, follow the progress through and then celebrate like heck when you get there.

Hello July Friends---

Long time no chat. Sorry.. I have been incredibly busy with the 2 houses. Things will slow down soon. We will close on the new house July 7th and the house we are renting will go on the market July 10thish. I will be glad when this is all done. We will not move until Sept so we can have some work done on the house.

I totally agree with want2bskinnyagain. I want to phase off properly and focus on the phases not do a half *** job. I had my WI today and I lost 4 lbs. I am down to 176 which I am shocked!!! Still cant believe I lost about 62 lbs. So from 3 Drs - 1 said I should phase off at 160 and see how I like that weight. The 2 others said it should be anywhere from 140-150lbs. I don't think I need to be lower then that. I am not going to be a size 0 and I am ok with that. My problem is I don't know what size I should be since I haven't been this small and at least 20 years. I cant remember honestly what I weighed in high school or college.

Anyone else out there that is 5'3 in height - what is your goal? I will also be busy from now until Sept so I think I will keep plugging along and really phase off after I get back from my cruise in Sept.

Any thoughts on weight for me or when to phase off. I think I am also a bit nervous because I have been on P1 I know what I should do and not do. I don't want change but P2-P4 are good changes.

It is very hot here in DC area. We are just doing errands for the new house offer the weekend. We will go see the fireworks from the DC mall from my husbands office - perfect view with free parking and no crowds!!! Did it last year it was great.

I know it is a little late but I wanted to wish my Canadian fans a very Happy Belated Canadian Day!!!

I am reading all the posts and I am so proud of everyone we have all come along way and it is a journey for the rest of my life. My coach told me today once I am on different phases think of this "diet" as a tool - we all know what to do and what it takes to lose the weight once we gain some.

Everyone here is great and I am so glad to be part of this journey for us. We should all be happy we started when we did!!!!

Schenectady: Thanks. You are close too, keep going. And I plan to have a party when I get to goal, my friends probably won't know why I am having a party but I will. Lol

Lucci: I am 5' 2.5" so close to your height. My Dr. also told me that 160lbs was where I should stop. I already had 150lbs as my goal, I am now (secretly) thinking 140lbs is where I want to be. A couple of reasons I want that weight, 1) according to the BMI scale 141lbs for me is "normal" weight, not sure I have EVER been a normal weight. 2) I still have a bit of a belly and would like that to be smaller as well, which means losing more weight. I am like you, I don't remember what I weighed in high school but I am sure I was over weight then too. I do remember getting down to 140-145lbs when I was 20 or 21. So I am not sure if I can get that low again, that was 20 years and 2 kids ago. Lol.
Good luck with your decision, I am looking forward to other peoples opinions on this.

Hi! So nice to see so many of you.

Figuring out your goal weight is tricky. I say- when you feel really comfortable with your body, then it is time. Not one magic number, more of a satisfaction with your health and physical appearance.

Schenectady, congratulations on starting the new house! So exciting and stressful at the same time.

Luccilove, girl- you have a lot going on and still a great WI! So excited for your closing. Your 4th of July plans sound great too. Ours were cancelled due to the impending rain.

Hawaii, thanks for the support. 3 days on Phase 1 did the trick. I love your sugar is the devil mantra.

Want2b- I am so proud of you for sticking it out. You are such an inspiration to hang tough. Thanks for being wonderful, supportive, and determined.

As for me, I have literally been working my buns off. The rain held off, so I planted a bunch more. Almost done getting the plants in the ground. Also carried all the wrought iron furniture up to the second story deck and set it up. Still have a lot of projects to get done, but today- I am feeling satisfied and... Tired.

Hey all! Back from Michigan, and back 100% OP! Been reading and following along, just been feeling a bit stuck. Dr. Took me completely off program for two weeks to see if my body would "reset" itself, and I managed to maintain even being off plan, so I was happy about that. Tried potatoes when I was off plan, and have no taste buds for them! Ditto on bread. It felt like a rock in my belly, and I can't imagine WANTING to eat it. My blood pressure is still very low, so they are running tests, and I'm going to be seeing a couple of specialists. Blacking out was no fun whatsoever! So very glad that has only happened twice.. Both while I was at home (thank goodness)!! Hope that all is well with everyone. I'm about 4 lbs away from the magic 150 lbs .

Slip: Glad you got a lot accomplished yesterday. Your yard must be beautiful, you you get to sit and enjoy it today.

Kawaii: Yeah, you are back. Was thinking about you. Glad the Dr. is taking you seriously and trying to figure out what is going on. Fantastic job maintaining while off program. No taste for bread and potatoes? Maybe there is hope for me yet. Lol. Are you back to P1 now, Dr. approved? A big thumbs up for the 150's, you will get there soon.

Happy 4th to all my US friends! DH will be joining us camping tonight for the weekend. Back home on Sunday.

Want2B,

Both the owner of my center (a nurse for 26 years), AND my dr think that it could be due to losing weight so quickly. Additionally, they think that the base issues could be from the gastric bypass. Even though my surgery was 14 years ago, there's not a whole lot of data regarding people and long term effects.

My doc has cleared me to go back to phase 1 with the addition of salt, extra potassium, and I have to eat every 2 hours. I still can't lift weights or work out hard, but I can walk, and I do that every single day. First week back on phase 1, I lost 8lbs!

Hoping that all these changes make a difference and I can get back to getting healthy.

I will be meeting with a surgeon in Boston soon regarding having the extra skin removed. They think that it will be an additional 25 - 30 lbs off.. Seems a bit crazy!!!!!

Hi everyone,

July 4th is a weather washout here. The rain has been teeming from the heavens all day.

Want2b, everything in the garden is late this year. I will post some pictures when things start to bloom. Next big job is refinishing a black metal table and chairs set, maybe tomorrow. Glad your DH is going to have a little of the camping fun. I bought the Beck book today. I am also going to stop by my clinic and check out the phase 4 cookbook.

Very interesting change, I am not experiencing any cravings for foods. On vacation, I was hungry because of the increase of carbs and decrease in protein. I was really afraid that the carb monster had awakened, but nope. For that, I am grateful. I really have not put carbs back into dinner, I just do not like them enough. Maybe in the winter, sweet-potato will appeal.

Oh, I bought my Goal present in Maine. They are three Alex and Ani type bracelets by a company called Chrysalis. The charms feature flowers with meanings and there are words engraved on the back of each charm. Some of the words are hope, new life, sweetness... Can not remember the rest.

Kawaii: down 8lbs is awesome! Keep it up.

Slip: enjoy your goal present, sounds like it will be a good reminder. I have been thinking of not having carbs( like potatoes, pasta and bread) very often in maintenance. Let me know how it goes.

Rosie, indeed I did I wanted something with meaning to remember the moment and I wanted a reminder of my new healthy life. The fact that it has flowers, uplifting words and that the company is called Chrysalis (as in butterfly) sealed the deal. Great minds think alike and I still love my Pandora!

Hi all

The rain has stopped and I am off to find two more patio seat cushions. Driving across the state because I need to hit a different Christmas Tree Shop, mine only had two! . Taking a bar and water, because it will be a late lunch.

Hope that your day is fantastic and easy OP.

Chiming in to say hope everyone is having a fantastic super OP day. Friends in from all sorts of places (NY, VT, NH, and CT), still sticking to OP, and I got my 3.5 (actually 3.9 today) mile walk in! Protein before, protein after. BP stayed steady and no dizziness at all. Woohoo!!!

Great day shopping and out to dinner. Accomplished all of my shopping goals and then some, lol! Now it is time to prep and paint the table and chairs.

Kawaii, your day sounds great too. Such a beautiful day outside today.
