This is from the thread 'IP Friendly Crockpot Recipes' -- I made this today and had it for dinner tonite--it was excellent, and the rutabaga was unbelievable. I remember my mom making rutabagas for the family when I was a kid.. she cooked and mashed them... I always thought they tasted terrible, and I have not had one since I left home for college 40 years ago. But I will buy and cook them this way now! Yummers!
I made this last weekend and had the same reaction! My dad always makes these mashed (and loaded with brown sugar) with turkey dinner. And they're good, but slow roasted or baked rutabaga is a whole different flavour. I've started adding them to my grocery cart regularly now.
I did find that they weren't nearly cooked even after hours in the slow cooker. I had to bake them for a bit after. Going to try smaller pieces next time they go in the pot.
CO_6 -- My husband does all of the cooking at our house, but he as made me incredible stir frys using Tamari and some WF pancake syrup with garlic, ginger and red chili flakes and 1/2 cup IP friendly stock (he makes his own). He uses 1/4 tsp xanthum gum at the end to thicken. Add a splash of lime and done. I can vouch for the deliciousness.
After rooting around for some new recipes this weekend, I tried the "Big Mac in a Bowl" - OMG amazing! I made it a little different than the recipes I found online (used relish instead of pickles, topped with chopped fresh onion instead of the dried, added some veggie shreds for "cheese"). It's my new favorite! I've never had a Big Mac before (I'm a double-cheeseburger kind of gal), but this tasted JUST like cheeseburger.

I just got some Walden Farms thousand island dressing....will try this recipe tomorrow.
Sounds yummy!

B: IP Vanilla RTD (made into an iced coffee)
S: IP mini-muffins (chocolate/crispy cereal - 1 serving)
L: IP garlic herb biscuits (with the potato puree), kale/cucumber/tomato salad
S: IP lemon wafer
D: Scrambled eggs, jimaca, green peppers
Not a fan of the garlic herb biscuits recipe. I love garlic, but struggled to choke these down. I haven't been feeling well in general today due to TOM. Very nauseous and headachey, hence the scrambled eggs.

I don't make my potato puree bread with garlic/herb.
Just puree, egg, zucchini and baking powder

Maybe I'll try that, though the garlic wasn't the issue. It had a really terrible after-taste. I didn't mind the puree on it's own, so I'm not sure if it was cooking it that caused that.

I shared the recipe for the pork roast and rutabaga but I forgot to say that I added WF maple syrup to the rutabaga and then put the seared pork roast in on top-- the thread where I found this recipe had a posting that suggested the maple syrup. I made the addition but forgot to mention it in my posting of the recipe.
I imagine that the rutabaga with the syrup must be quite similar to your dad's version.... I have to say, the end result was fabulous. So good that my slow cooker is running right now cooking this same recipe for me!
