Good Morning! Today is my first official day on IP. A friend used it last year and lost bunches of weight but stopped because of the expense. We are both starting today using alternative products. I have spent the weekend researching and reading threads so think I am prepared! LOL Looking forward to getting to know everyone.
Happy Monday everyone! I'm going to spend some quality time reviewing the travel and restaurant threads. I just found out that we will be on a long road trip this summer, and it has me a bit worried. I'm planning to bring a cooler with my veggies, and some rtd shakes (easier than dealing with dirty shaker cups!)
Does anyone have suggestions for IP-friendly fast food options? I'm concerned about evening protein, mostly. I can do hard boiled eggs from the grocery store on some days, but my options might be limited on other days. I'm pretty sure that my weight loss will stop if I eat a bun less burger nightly for two weeks!

Welcome! You will really enjoy the folks on this forum. Lots of good advice!

Hi there! Today is my first day *back* to IP, with alternatives! I too have spent the weekend reading, reading, and reading some more on the alternatives threads!
Here's to us & success!
GR8 <--- enjoying, much to my surprise, an iced coffee made with Designer Whey Frencch vanilla instead of a 1/4c half and half for my breakfast!

A few suggestions and I'm sure others will have more, but if you can (depending on your cooler size), cook up some chicken breasts ahead of time and stick them in the cooler (won't last two weeks but will give you a start), canned tuna and/or chicken work well too. In a real pinch, lean deli meat will work but watch out for the sodium (especially since it's challenging to get enough water in on a road trip!).
Not sure on fast food (we generally don't eat it) but I found ordering a taco salad with nothing but the onions and tomatoes on it (and don't eat the shell) with double meat usually worked.
Scope out the fast food restaurants on-line ahead of time and keep a list of what you can eat at all the major ones - make figuring it out so much easier! Most of the major chains have all the nutritional information and a "build a meal" feature.
Hi all! If I use some of a drink in my coffee to replace the half and half I normally use, how do I deal with that in terms of my allotted "packets"? I am using alternatives and got some RTD French vanilla to use for coffee. I have 2 mugs of coffee daily and I just used maybe 6ozs split between the two.
If this belongs on newbies questions, mods feel free to move.
Happy Monday!! It's day 4 and I am feeling wonderful!! Headache is gone!! Woke up full of energy!! I'm so excited! lol I haven't felt this energetic on a Monday morning in a long time!!
GR8by48- I'm not a breakfast eater. I drink a cup of coffee at home and another when I get to work and my coach suggested that I use half of an ip drink of my choice in each cup of coffee. Or eat the ip breakfast and just use a splash of an ip drink in my coffee in replace of cream and sugar. This is only my fourth day and I get the extra ip drink so I use that.
I have spent the weekend reading all of the great recipes and ideas in these posts.

The daily chat is a great place to ask these kinds of questions Gr8by48.
Assuming you are currently only using 3 packets a day, I wouldn't worry about the vanilla for your creamer (at your weight and just starting it should be fine in my opinion - someone correct me if I'm wrong).
However, i would start trying to cut it down as you go along. As you lose weight it could slow down your losses. Keep an eye on it and maybe learn to like black coffee? 3 oz in each cup is quite a bit.

Not drive thru fast food, but my go to when I'm in a pinch has become Chipotle. Not sure how remote you will be on your road trip but maybe there will be some around. I get the salad with steak or barbacoa, extra lettuce, double tomatoes, fajita veggies (pick around the onions), and the green tomatillo salsa. You could only do it twice a week cause of the tomatoes but it's an option. I'd suggest getting the sample size packets of WF dressings if you can and have them on hand for salads, though every fast food salad I've had has been a sad sight. Also, I think Chick Fil A has grilled chicken tenders. You'd have to look into how they are cooked and how they are seasoned, but I know they are a go-to for some people on gluten free/low fodmap restricted diets, so maybe they would work.

I am in the same boat! (Starting today, have done a lot of reading for understanding, using alternatives.) Good luck to you! This place seems to be an incredible support structure, and motivating as well!

You can use the vanilla RTD for coffee, but I think that 6 oz per day is WAY too much long term as Ruth Ann suggested (that is just about a whole packet.) My coach allotted me an ounce a day for coffee but I learned to use less than that in one cup. Try working down over the next couple weeks.

Am I misunderstanding... Are there NO restaurants other than fast food options where you are going for two week???
I had such a fabulous weekend that I have to share because I am near to bursting with excitement. We went shopping for my birthday yesterday. I started out in the Women's department at Macy's but found that most of the clothes were too big for me. I worked up all my nerve to go to the Misses department, where I ended up buying clothes that fit me! Then I went to Coldwater Creek where I bought a dress in a size 14! I am floating on air today! (Floating in a nearly new outfit - a new top from Macy's and a pair of dressy capri pants I haven't worn in almost 6 years.)
Anadan, Gr8by, and batgirl - congrats on starting and/or restarting your health journey. Wishing you all the success and look forward to reading your posts.
My long weekend is coming to a close, heading home today but have a kid free night as they are staying with my parent's in Toronto an extra night. Did 2.5 mile run on the tread mill today but am really pleased with my 8k run on Saturday. I am planning to do a 10k in July!
