My clinic doesn't even have those measuring things. I could be losing muscle and not even knowing it! I would trust her though, especially if she has been doing it awhile. If the scale doesn't show the right results, you can try something else.
I am worried now though. Have started at 249 I never had the four packets that some say I could have.
To be honest I wish mine did not have that thing..I don't know how something can be so accurate by only holding it with two hands..and then it magically knows your body fat percentage, etc?

They are NOT accurate.
They are estimations.
And lean mass is more than muscle. It is EVERYTHING in your body that isn't fat: blood, connective tissue, skin, water, bone, organs, EVERYTHING. Just change in water can easily throw off the estimation calculation the machine does.
I don't trust them.
Real egg equivalent for a packet = 1 whole egg + 3 egg whites (large egg equivalent)
Other alternatives could include EAS Carb control shakes
Or, check the atlernatives thread for more ideas.

I'm doing the happy dance today! Down 120 lbs in a year (okay, a year and a day, but close enough for me) and a total of 92 inches lost. I am just thrilled!
WooHoo! Congratulations. This is AWESOME. You are awesome!

Wow!! Awesome results in such a short time! A testament to your commitment!
Ruth & Sweetenuff - way to go ladies you are both such an inspiration. |
I'm on day #89 of 100% and I feel fantastic - will hit the 30 pound mark hopefully by tomorrow. I'm finishing up the IP products I have and I'm integrating the alternative products. Hopefully by next week I'll be in Phase II. I have a big event Saturday for work - we have a National Training and Awards function twice a year - the dress I bought 3 weeks ago is too big!! whoopee!!! - this dinner is black tie & cocktail or gown. Thankfully I have something from before that fits now. As for the meal saturday - I have a lot to do at this event so I'll be able to get away with pushing my food around the plate!!!!
well let's all have a good one ladies we're worth it

Hiker - I'm rewarding myself with more clothes! I have a very skimpy wardrobe right now. And shoes, I need shoes! I can't keep wearing boots forever.
sweetenuf - woo hoo on your loss. That is fantastic!
dcs0826 - I'm with Lisa, I don't trust the accuracy of those machines at all. It's an estimate and not a very good one in my opinion. How do you feel?
Ruth Ann- I feel satisfied and am generally not hungry. I don't give the machine much merit, but apparently my coach does.
Congrats on a great 1st weigh in and you are absolutely right - stay OP and it will come off!

CONGRATULATIONS, RUTH ANN!!! That is just awesome! That is a whole 'nuther person!
dcs - If you're feeling good, have plenty of energy and aren't getting hungry I don't think you need to change a thing (my opinion only). You might do as JLUS suggested in the other thread and just add a couple of egg whites and then you can tell your coach you added protein. It would be different if those scales actually measured only muscle, but since they measure everything that isn't fat as lean body mass there's no way they can distinguish between muscle and everything else. That's my 2 cents anyway.
Today, I am so happy with the weeks I have now managed to be 100% OP because the needle is moving consistently, albeit slowly, down. For me, there is a pretty direct correlation between my being absolute on the program and the consistent weight loss.
Now that my husband has joined me, it is much easier and I chuckle to see him make his Big Mac bowls! He is no and does not intend to be 100% OP but is doing extremely well on his modified version. I am not upset, just happy that he is at least taking the issue seriously.
Yesterday, he hit -20 pounds after three weeks. We celebrated at Applebee's with a completely legal, carefully chosen meal. He found a new pair of jeans waiting for him at home because he loved to show how he could 'drop' his current pair by just shrugging.....

I agree with you. The more I thought about it overnight the more I realized that the machine has no way of knowing what is muscle vs skin, blood, water, etc. Thank you!
