I find it's good for the emotions, and fresh air & sunshine is always important. It raises the level of endorphins, which many of us tried to get from food before we got serious about our weight/bodyfat percentages. Walking won't help you
lose weight per se, but it will help you keep your muscle strength and definition or build it, if you never did any exercise before.
Depending on your personality & lifestyle, you could go for the solitary contemplation walk (briskly though) if your area is safe, or you could invite friends or your significant other for a healthy bonding session.
