Are all proteins equal?

  • Just curious if anyone has noticed greater weight loss depending on what type of protein they have consumed for the week. For example, if you eat poultry for your proteins all week instead of red meat, have you had a more successful weigh-in or does it really matter as long as you are satisfied and staying on program?

Protein is protein...It is comprised of a finite number of amino acids that "make" a substance a protein. Vegetarians must "mix-up" and eat in conjunction the sources from which most of their amino acids come from in order to COMPLETE the protein picture. But many of us find the varying amount of fat in their animal protein will give the scale a good boost once in a while. That is why it is good to vary it ... but if you are following a vegetarian protocol..you must be sure you are getting ALL of the essential amino acids or you will be deficient, and that is not good. Not good at all.
