Welcome! Make sure to check in here everyday...this site is full of support!
  • Weighed in today and I have lost 2.2lbs. totaling exactly 10 lbs in 2 weeks. I was worried since the scale was not moving for three days.

All the contributors on this board are all so helpful, informative as well as inspirational. I hope that I can stick with this diet. I haven't been at this weight for the past 4 years. (And I go to WW every week.) Looking forward to more losses.
    Have a GR8 Day!
  • I just started my IP journey. I am on week 1, day 4.
I look forward to meeting new IPer's and sharing tips, successes ect.

Welcome, Amanda. How's your energy today? Day four was the day I thought I could continue. (I just finished week 2.)
  • So, today was definitely challenging. I went on a boat trip which entails about 40 people on a boat for 6 hours drinking alcohol, eating crisps and other snacks and then visiting a beach bar for fried food (to soak up all that alcohol). I planned ahead, had two drink bottles with club soda and mint leaves and some celery sticks for snacks. Made sure I ate beforehand. The alcohol part was ok, everyone thought I was drinking mojitos which was great. The hardest part was at the beach bar. Everyone was eating fries and poutine and it smelt so good. However, I hung in there and did not even take one bite. Now, I know I'm going to wake up tomorrow with a clear head and a clear conscience. Definitely one of the hardest days so far on IP - I'm in my 4th week. But I'm pretty proud of myself and my willpower!!!

    Great job!
  • Hi all! Checking back in at the end of day 3. So far, so good. 3.4 lbs. gone so far - at least according to the wii fit, which I've decided to weigh myself on each day at the same time so I can see any progress I make on the graph. Hopefully that will help keep me motivated. I've been pretty much keeping to the program sheet my coach gave me religiously. I haven't had any of the detox/withdrawl headaches I used to get when I used to do phase one of southbeach. That surprised me, as I was drinking a decent amount of soda and eating more junk food than I care to admit before getting on this. But I'm not complaining! I don't know if I've hit ketosis or not. Only unusual thing so far is a "yucky" feeling coating on my teeth - probably due to the protein meals, I'm guessing. I'm also aware that my weight loss is probably just water weight at this poin, but it's still encouraging. Especially since I've been kind of winging it since my coach had to go out of town for a week the day after I started this. I'm still floundering through, trying to figure out how everything works. I'll admit to being a bit confused about things. Truthfully, I didn't find the instructions all that clear - I've actually learned more from reading this board than from the papers and video they gave me. I do have a question, tho. The coach said that I should have 2 IP "meals"/day + an IP snack. Because I like to have something to munch one while I relax and watch t.v. in the evening, I have the snack then. So far it's been the cheese curl things and southwest chip things - which are restricted. My coach said only 1 restricted item per day, so I thought that was ok - but I read here how many of you are only doing restricted items a couple times a week - and not after 8pm, like I am. Am I doing this wrong? Sure would hate to "stall out" before I'm really even started! Also - is it ok to have a packet of stevia (Nu Stevia brand) with my tea in the am - and still do walden farms salad dressing in the evening? Thanks for all the support and any input - looking forward to reaching my goal!
  • Just restarted IP. I was frustrated with a previous coach not weighing and taping me correctly, not giving me all of the food that I paid for during our meetings, etc., and in short I thought I could do better on my own... WRONG. I gained it all back and am here for the long haul this time. I have a supportive coach this time and understand that losing weight takes time. I feel so stupid. I lost thirty pounds in a month last time... it is a slower go at it this time I am at 14 pounds in two weeks, by two weeks last time I was at almost twenty pounds. But it is ok... it is coming off. Wish me luck. I am here to stay this time.

Sounds like you're off to a good start Perish! And love your user name - that is great!

The program is designed to have 2 unrestricted and 1 restricted a day so you're fine there. Some people limit their restricted because they find the lower carbs work better for them. I personally ate 1 restricted a day the first 8 months or so on IP and have only limited them because I found myself looking forward to them just a bit too much - as I get closer to goal I'm really working on changing my relationship with food and figuring out what triggers me to start craving things. It's a personal journey and not the same for everyone.

When you eat your restricted is largely irrelevant - unless the restricteds are giving you problems sleeping at night, keep doing what you're doing if it's working for you. If you want to break the TV snacking habit, you might want to revisit that issue at some point.

In short, you have to experiment a bit. Everyone is different and different things work for them. You've just started so I wouldn't change a thing right now - see how you do and if you have to make some adjustments or want to shake things up a little you can always switch it up.

I think the Stevia in the tea and the WF dressings are fine as long as you're watching your servings sizes. Again, see how it goes for you and you can always make changes if you find something isn't working for you.

Just relax and let yourself get into the routine of IP. Nothing is currently broke that I can see from your post - you're doing great! And if your coach is unavailable, be sure to ask questions here - lots of people with experience and knowledge who are great about answering questions!
  • Hi, I am doing my second round in IP. I am going to a hospital that follows IP diet and go through a medical doctor, dietician, and exercise specialist. I go there every other week and see one each time. I have lost 30 lbs but gained 14 back after 9 months. So I am back in track again. They tell me to exercise, mainly cardio, and some strength training as it will avoid loss of lean muscle mass. I have been reading the posts and use the recipes from this great forum. Thank you for all the great information here.
  • I'm on day #2 of phase #1 - I'm glad I started on a Saturday - I'm feeling good and really want to do it this time - this is my first time on IP - I've tried Richard Simmons & I'm a lifetime member of WW's - but I've gained 34 lbs in the last year just not watching - I'm a junk food junkie - so here I am - I'm 66 and work full time - as except for the extra weight I'm in excellent health(so grateful) - so I've decided to have my regular meal in the morning - I already have it ready for tomorrow - 4 eggs & 2 cups of vegetables that I'll blend up in my NutriBullit and cook as an omelet - I've mixed a ready to drink Chocolate IP shake with 2 cups of zucchini, mushrooms & celery in the bullit for my lunch at work. I'll have an oatmeal for supper then my snack later in the evening. When I come home from work I don't feel like cooking. so I'm ready.

I hope you don't mind my joining your thread

I had lots of energy yesterday, today being day 5 - have even more.
  • thanks so much. I'm grateful for the thirst so I can down so much water! The machine thing they hook me up to says i'm dehydrated so I've upped my salt intake to help. Thanks for the advice on blu-pom. I like the drink when i've had a big cardio day because i mix one pack into a litre and can drink it in minutes because it's so good.
