Good morning everyone. This morning I hit my goal. 80lbs gone. So I'm going to take a moment to enjoy it and reflect on my experience.......ok, now that's over. I've been teetering back and forth on whether to stop or keep going for about 3 weeks now. Last week, I decided that when I hit my original goal of 80 lbs, that I would give myself 5 more weeks to loose an additional 25 lbs. This will bring me down at an even 200 lbs and in the event that after I have stopped the Ideal Protein and resumed "normal" eating habits I gain 15 or 20lbs back, I will be in a lot better shape that if I stopped now. But I don't plan on gaining that much back!

Some I noticed this past week. I've been getting a little dizzy and light headed when I get up too fast or if I am bending over and stand up too quickly. I was evening a little light headed when we were out shopping this weekend. I am hoping this will pass. I experienced a little bit of this around week 5 and 6.

I hope everyone has a good day. Only 2 days till Christmas! Oh and for all the Seinfeld fans, Happy Festivus!!!

Ruth Ann 12-23-2013 07:51 AM

Congrats Allend on hitting your goal! 80 lbs is a huge achievement! :bravo:

Are you getting all your salt in? I know if I start getting lax on the salt I get dizzy (or, dizzier, according to dh!).

lisa32989 12-23-2013 07:59 AM

Congrats Allend on goal! You'll figure out wha is best for you.

Congrats slipfree & welcome to I onderland. It's a great place to live.

shrinkingsusie 12-23-2013 08:20 AM

Good morning!!

We were supposed to get hit with another ice storm last night, but from looking at the small amount of ice on my windshield, I guess it didn't happen. Thank goodness!! So many trees are falling and branches breaking from the storms the last two days.

Hope everyone keeps warm and safe today!!

sologirl Yup, PC points. I can get 600 points this week on romaine hearts and 400 on cucumbers. lol Then it listed a bunch of organic chips/cereals, etc.

serlinr 12-23-2013 08:31 AM

Had my first WI this morning - 5 pounds gone! I was thinking it would be more but I don't have that much weight to lose. I feel great so that's what is important!

lilkel244 12-23-2013 08:40 AM

Hi all, had my weigh in, -.4. Not surprised, its been a tough week. My coach has been talking about me doing a cleanse. Has anyone done a cleanse on IP? Makes me nervous!

I've done the cleanse but I have a hard time doing the pills more than a couple days at a time. (I travel for work and it doesn't go well when you have 45 mins between bathrooms!) I never got constipated before and since I did it for a few days a couple weeks ago I seem to be dealing with constipation now.

My coach says to start out with half doses and gradually add until you feel its working as it should.... it can hit hard! LOL! I did it again for the weekend so we'll see how this week goes.

lilkel This is my opinion only, but I've never been a fan of cleanses because no one has been able to tell me exactly what exactly it is supposed to do. If you have functioning kidneys and a liver, your body does all the "cleansing" needed - no need for an expensive "cleansing" product. I'm sure people more knowledgeable than me will jump in, but that's my 2 cents.

momat40 12-23-2013 08:57 AM

Allend: congratulations on reaching goal.

Congrats to all the weigh in's today. Mine was at -2.4 this morning. I'm so happy I didn't succumb to all the temptation this weekend.

Lisa: welcome to sunny FL :) This weekend was beautiful.

My mom did the cleanse from the IP clinic and it did nothing for her! When I first started, I didn't go for a long time, even though I was eating the 'leafy greens' people recommended! I take probiotics everyday and don't eat 'leafy greens' daily and seem to not have the Big C problem anymore. Everyone has a different body so you need to find what works for you. The way I look at it, if IP is going to give me the Big C, I'm going to find a solution for the entire time I'm on IP (so a daily probiotic) rather than a quick fix (like a cleanse).

shrinkingsusie 12-23-2013 09:16 AM

I suffered from the Big C when I first started IP, but I find that ice cold water in the morning gets things going for me. :p

Slipfree 12-23-2013 10:39 AM

Hi everyone,

Allend428, congrats on 80 pounds! I often get the dizziness when I get up. For me, I think my blood pressure medicine (very low dose) may need adjusting because of my weight loss. I am hesitant because I know that my bp is higher during the week. (I teach 7 th grade, that says it all) and the dizziness is usually on the weekends. For now, I just put my head down and take some deep breaths. Have you noticed any patterns with the dizziness? Mornings? Too long between meals?

Lisa, thanks Onederland feels pretty good. It has been 10 years since I have been here. I intend to reside here for the rest of my life!

As for the cleanse, I would say no. You still lost weight this week during a crazy social time of year. I have dealt with C a lot during my 3 months on IP. I started taking Metamucil fiber caplets and someone recommended a tea. (Smooth move)

Lots of errands to do today, but it is pouring rain :(

Ruth Ann 12-23-2013 10:41 AM

Now residing in ONEDERLAND for the rest of my life!

Congrats on Onederland Slipfree and I LOVE your siggy!

Slipfree 12-23-2013 11:02 AM

Ruthann, Kawaii and I have a joke about Twoderville being the town next to Onederland. I messaged her that I now reside at 199 Onderland! Lol

Quest Bars

For those who eat quest bars what are your favorite flavors? They have some on sale at a local store here but I have no idea which ones are close to IP and what flavors seem to rank best on here?

And suggestions?

ps. they have so many flavors I have no idea what to get!

GettinHealthyNow 12-23-2013 11:43 AM

Congratulations Allend! That's wonderful.

I'm also taking this week to reflect - I've been on IP now for just over 3 months and am down 42 pounds. I haven't felt or looked this good in a long, long time - and much of it is due to the support I've found here on these boards. You are a wonderful group of people to do this journey with. Thank you all. I'm more than halfway to my goal now and my head just continues to be in it. I am determined to make it - and keep it off.

mckaren4 12-23-2013 01:47 PM

Congratulations AllenD-Thanks for showing us -IP Works!

Congratulations Slipfree-Onederland!!-I hope to move there this week!

Its been a hectic Monday -My acura wouldn't start and we bought a new battery for it yesterday and it still didn't start-so I arranged for it to be towed to the repairman this am. Counting my blessings-we have another car-so I am not stuck at home!
Loving the IP plan-I find it easy to stick to!

serlinr 12-23-2013 02:30 PM

I read a post somewhere that the cinnamon roll and strawberry cheesecake meet IP protocol. Both are yummy and what I've been eating.

I just wanted to second this. I don't think I would have kept at it as faithfully without the support. Seeing others prove it works as well as having the help to know we can do it... Thanks to all.

Congrats to all the happy losers!

I had my weigh in on Saturday and happily down another 3.1. Last week has been, and this week will be, so hectic and stressful... I'll take anything in the downward direction or even not the upward direction.

I won't be online much during the next week - at home with family. I have my IP bag and have bought my veggies. I didn't pack the bag as well as I should have but it will do.

Happy Holidays! and Happy IP!

Bellamack 12-23-2013 06:04 PM

Hello IPeeps, Just wanted to stop in and say Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays and a Healthy Happy 2014!

dlr9774 12-23-2013 06:05 PM

Just popping in to say "Merry Christmas"
Looking for support and inspiration from the entries as we are bombared with treats and dainties full of carbs. Doing my best to eat healthy. Stocked up on celery and peppers for me to nibble on. What are your plans to stick to IP protocol over the next couple of days?

Looking forward to our family vacation at the end of January - really wish - but rather that wish - I plan (because we don't have success without plans/ without structure ) to lose 10 more lbs before the holiday. My husband is currently down 30 lbs and I am down 27 pounds. We both started on October 30, 2013. I should say that I am doing IP and my hubby is eating healthy and cutting junk. Great to have him helping and supporting me.

Retail Therapy!!!!

Ok I have been at the end of my rope with the kids and just everything. Lastnight I told DH that I wanted to go shopping today for ME and no one else But ME!! So I took some $$$ and went to Kohls.

I had a HUGE confidence booster and NSV for ME I was able to buy a REGULAR 16 in the NON PLUS SIZE dept. and an XL sweater in the regular sized clothes :broc: :carrot: I was on cloud flippin 9!!!!

Then off to target where I found a sweater dress (black and blue) for $20 their size was xxl (they seem to run small because a Kohls dress was only an XL) and some tights.

Off to payless shoes and scored a pair of mid calf slouchy type boot with a chunk heel for $29!!!! Ok I am going to blow my own fog horn I LOOK GOOD and this made me so happy!! The look on Dh's face when I came down with my dress, tights and boots on was one that I wish I had my camera!!!

So with that in mind I am **** bent on staying 100% until feb or later!!

I had to share with you all :)

I cant wait to wear boots that fit over my calves!
Have a great OP Christmas and New Years!

Anyone had any luck with the Chocolate Muffin/Pancake mix? I am in a wedding in January, and my best friend seems disappointed that I won't be able to partake in the cupcakes they are having at the reception, which I don't really mind, but I figured, I could stay OP and try and make a plain cupcake (or even a WF jelly filled one) if the mix actually worked well enough to make good cupcakes...

Slipfree 12-23-2013 11:55 PM

Deana, how was the shower?

Apparently her fiance (who was helping me with some of the planning, and were suppose to help me get her there) let it slip accidentally, as did one of the guests, so it wasn't a surprise for her, but it still turned out nice... With it being so close to the holidays not as many people as I wanted showed up, but it was still really nice.
It's hard to believe my best friend is getting married in 23 days, and moving away! I still have to figure out some kind of bachelorette party (I'm her MOH, and the only Bridesmaid) and I think I'll just take her and our group of friends out to bowling, and Dinner (she's a simple kind of gal). Any suggestions?

Of everything about her special day she's concerned what is going in YOUR mouth? If she is truly your best friend and loves you like a best friend then she will want you to be healthy above ANY one-day indulgence. She has to know not everyone will have a cupcake and she wil be the only one in the spotlight. You can enjoy her special day just fine without a cupcake. That being said, if YOU want something (not for her but for yourself) the zucchini muffin recipe works great with chocolate pudding. It could be cut in half and part of the pudding could be a frosting.

Or, Nashua nutrition sells a chocolate cake mix that would be a restricted. Can't remember the brand.

Barring any of that, I just wouldn't talk wedding eating with her. You can do your thing and the wedding will be beautiful. Her marriage has nothing to do with what you eat.

The chocolate pancake/muffin mix are one of my faves. The trick to make a good muffin is one and a half ounces of COLD water. Then nuke it for 2 minutes. It comes out nice and dense but moist. I don't know how it would keep if you made it in advance.

I used the chocolate pancake mix to make a cupcake for my birthday in September - it turned out really well and was a nice "treat". I didn't think of doing a WF jelly filling though, that's brilliant!

Popping on to say Merry Christmas to everyone! :santa: :wreath: :rudolph:

Now that I am in phase 4 I no longer have issues with the big C. Now I am having quite the opposite problem. The greek yogurt I've been eating since phase 3 should not be an issue. I had no issues in phase 3. I have added nuts only cashews and almonds as fat snack or as fat with fat meal. Any one experience something similar?

sarahBell 12-24-2013 12:24 PM

Anyone have any suggestions for recipes for the chocolate pudding mix?

lighthouse101 12-24-2013 01:53 PM

Merry Christmas everyone! Hope you're all enjoying a great OP day.

Sarahbell, Here are a few of my favs for the chocolate pudding:

Chocolate mocha - blend mix with about 5 oz chilled coffee.

Chocolate peppermint "ice cream" - 1 packet pudding with 1/2 tsp peppermint extract, mix well and put in freezer until almost solid

Chocolate peanut mousse - 1 packet pudding, 4oz water, 1 tbsp WF peanut butter, 2 Tbsp egg whites - blend 2-3 minutes until fluffy, chill until ready to serve

Tank you so much!!! I was so pepped up yesterday it was not even funny!!!

You are looking so good!! I hope you have a sweet holiday and your family :candy::shocksn::tree:

Check out the quest bar thread. Not all quest bars are IP compliant
In a nutshell, here is the info: (note: newest double choc chunk isn't included in the cut/paste. I'd have to look them up. I think they fall in restricted category

The Quest Coconut Cashew bars don't fit our IP profile for alts (or maybe you could call them Super-restricted and limit to once/week). They have too much fat. Take fat calories (60) multiply by 3 (no more than 1/3 calories from fat) and you can see that there are too many calories from fat in this bar. You'd want no more than 56 calories from fat to be less than 1/3
The other Quest Bars that don't work (based on fat content) or would be Super Restricted:
Vanilla Almond Crunch,
Mixed Berry Bliss,
Peanut Butter Supreme,
Peanut Butter & Jelly,
White Chocolate Raspberry,
Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough

All of the other Quest bars would be restricted. There are two that fall right on the edge between restricted & non (Choc Peanut butter & Strawberry Cheesecake). Fat cals are under 1/3 (but not way under) and they both have 8 g net carbs. I'd still personally call them restricted, altho some use them as nonrestricted. Make your decisions carefully and determine what works based on WIs.
