According to my ketone sticks I am not in ketosis even though I have followed the plan and lost 10 pounds total in the first 2 weeks. Anyone else find these unreliable? I am starting to get frustrated this diet is hard but well worth it if I am going into ketosis but it does not seem that I have converted. I have had little symptoms of ketosis only thirst and headaches
I recently read an article about ketostix that said you have to take what thy say with a grain of salt. Apparently there are different types of ketones produced by the body and some of them (which are produced after you've been in ketosis for a while) aren't detected by ketostix. So it's very possible that you are in fact in ketosis but the sticks won't detect your ketones. This is what sometimes happens to people who start out getting a color that indicted ketosis and it lightens over time. They wrongly assume they aren't in ketosis any more. Hope that helps!
I had just asked my coach about the sticks the other day. She assured me not to purchase them (I didn't ask why) and said she can tell if I'm in ketosis or not. I'm taking the leap of faith and figure if she says I am...I am
