Oh then I had it wrong, or my coach is misinformed. I was told you stay on phase 1 till you lost most of your weight, 80% give or take, then stay on phase 2 until you get 3 to 5 pounds under your goal weight.

Wondering your thoughts! I have a body builder at work who tells me that our lean mass going down means we are losing muscle. My coach says that number stands for everything but fat and therefore is expected to go down due to water loss. I'm thrilled with this protocol and want only to defend anything negative does anyone have any info?
I'd suggest curtailing converstaions re: IP diet with the bodybuilder. You are going to find a gazillion different opinions re: nutrition. If you have chosen IP, you will find that it is a protein sparing modified fast (PSMF) diet. Even bodybuilders aren't necessarily nutritional experts.

Your coach is right. Lean mass is everything except fat.
And the bioimpedence scales are notoriously inaccurate so take their info with a grain of salt.

If you are losing muscle, it could possibly be because you were working out prior to IP and not working out now. PSMF diets preserve muscle, however. And the only way to really determine if muscle is being lost is by much more sophisticated testing.

The newest protocols (out in March) say continue P1 until 100% of your weight is lost, then P2 for 2 weeks, P3 for 2 weeks. That being said, some coaches skip p2 all together and go straight to P3. If your coach is saying 80%, know they are using old info I get so tired of coaches who don't stay up-to-date! Too bad IP doesn't emphasize staying current in order to keep credentials & sell their product!

If you are phasing off for a vacation, your coach may change the schedule. P2 used to be 1 week & P3 2 weeks.

If links to protocols are still not working, pm me your email and I can send them to you.

Hope everyone has a great day!
Wow! Great will power. That's something I haven't been able to achieve. I know I should put the scale away, but it's become my little obsession. Something I should try working on

Here is my question:
What does scale obsession do for you?
You know the old adage a watched pot never boils.

The only people who should be daily monitoring their weights are the ones who can view it neutrally and keeping data to chart the weekly/monthly fluctuations. Frequent weighing will help in maintenance, but only if we know that our weight isn't a static thing (just like weight loss isn't linear) and that MANY factors affect water weight.

Good morning all - had my third weigh in on Monday, down another -4.6, for 12 pounds total loss since I started. Clothes are fitting better, and I FEEL sooo much better. This diet is easy to stick to, but more than that, I appreciate the explanations of the science around it - both from the daily videos, as well as from my coach and all the literature. I've done WW and Jenny Craig in the past, and while I did lose weight on both, it quickly came back - and I'm sure it's because I just didn't understand the WHY behind it all. Now I do. Good luck to us all on this journey!

I step on the scale once a week, if I did it more I would go nuts

Scale obsession did nothing to help. That's why I put it away!

I actually have this recurring dream about being pregnant...so not at that place in my life! I did research on dreams and most people said that dreaming of pregnancy is your mind somewhat telling you that you're ready for a dramatic change in your life. You're ready for your life to be different! I know that my mind is consumed with my weight. That's why I'm only stepping on the scale at the clinic. Maybe it'll help me to enjoy where I'm at each week rather than expecting change EVERY morning...and get rid of those pesky dreams!

WI #16 down 5.0 lbs (52 lbs total), .75 inches. Officially over the half-way mark.

Next goal = 165, which is my wedding weight, eighteen years ago.

I have tried the raspberry spread and it is good. It has a jelly like consistency and is difficult to spread but tastes good. Much better than the WF salad dressings - I find that they have a chemically taste (other than the 1000 island which is the only one I like) but I don't notice that taste with the raspberry spread.

Day 2 of restarting after 6 months off... I dreamed last night that I ate a sandwich and afterwards I was devastated because I forgot I was back on IP! My subconscious even wants to be 100% on plan. That sealed the deal for me. I am in this thing deep! Lol

And I agree about the salad dressings...I am not a fussy eater but the only one I can take is WF 1000 Island. The others definatly taste chemical like.
