So nice to have this site as a resource! I had a couple of weeks with ok losses but I felt it should have been more.... I realized that maybe I was going over on my milk consumption by just a bit.. Its seems to have made a difference, I've had pretty good drops the past two days. Thanks everyone for all your tips!

Thank you, I have seen your blog. I'll have to try making the soups that you've written about. Where do you buy the protein powder that you use for those?

I've just been buying unflavored whey protein isolate powder from my local health food store. They sell in in bulk. When I first found it there, I obtained the nutritional label details from the Owner in order to make sure it was IP compatible. Any good unflavored protein powder with suitable nutritional values would be fine.

Evepet - That`s good to know. They may even have it at bulk barn.

I just was given a taste and then a whole box of the new herb soy chips that just came out in my province. They are soooo good and addictive. The main plus which I was shocked about is that they are unrestricted!!! Try them if you get a chance.

All the unflavoured ones that I find are still "milky" and just like a vanilla shake without the flavour. It is not very yummy in jello. I want something that is clear and you don't know it is there, like the IP jello is. Did you find that at your health food store?

Absolutely Love this site! Lots of great information and motivation! I just started the alternative IP diet 4 weeks ago and have only lost 10 lbs....so I'm kinda discouraged a bit. I did cheat 2 times in the last month, very bad I know, but I had to have one of my mom's cabbage rolls at Thanksgiving! I have Muscle Milk Light for breakfast and Lunch, then 2cups of veggies and a lean protein for supper, then a 5cal jello close to 8pm. I haven't been getting all 4 cups of veggies in everyday as well as all the water I should be getting down thats for sure but I haven't been hungry at all for anything more! Not sure if that is whats the reason why I'm not seeing the results everyone seems to be having :( Still hoping the lbs start to drop off a little faster soon.

No - I never did find an unflavored protein powder that would dissolve and not look milky in jello. But I know some folks here last year were using a gelatin product from Great Lakes Gelatin, in lieu of the IP gelatins. Here's a link:-

You may also be interested in this article about the health benefits of gelatin, including the fact that it's high in protein... I actually just noticed that the author mentions towards the bottom of the article that he/she uses the Great Lakes Kosher Gelatin. I haven't used this myself, but I'm thinking that it would produce a liquid or solid jello product that's clearer than those using regular protein powders. especially whey protein powder.

Did you notice that Amazon.ca is now selling grocery items? Not fresh stuff like fruits and veggies but lots of regular stuff. I noticed a few Walden Farms items but didn't compare prices to lowcarbgrocery.com I don't do alternatives but I wonder if some of those items might be on there too?

Good to know, thanks.

I'm not sure if this site has been mentioned, but www.iherb.com carries Walden farm products/Atkins and a host of other organic and natural products.

I just wanted to pop in, to say hi, from the interior of BC!

I am on my 5th week of IP and love it (most of the time)!

Clarington45 11-07-2013 05:50 AM

Someone suggested a while back going to a Dr. Berstein's clinic as they will sell products off the shelf and some are comparable.. they have a couple of soups, oatmeal and bars ( along with a few other things), they aren't bad.. the bars are a little high in carbs but might be worth checking them out.. I also just ordered some IP products and supplements from ebay.ca so combining those items along with a protein powder I found at walmart, and using eggs, tuna, and chicken will be how I am going to focus on using alternatives.. a little bit of everything:)

I did all but the very first week on IP using alternative products, which for the most part I sourced here in Canada. Check out my blog - link in signature line below - for the products I used, and their sources.
