So I tried so hard to figure out to how make the broc and cheese soup taste better.
I couldn't eat it tonight... I tired mixing in other veggies and adding spices but I wanted to gag....

Hi team. Nutty day at work today. My feet are killing me but Ir Wally need to get up and have a snack. I guess you would consider this my dinner time lol. Tomorrow will be mellower in the casino since we have a home football game. I'm hoping to get a lot of work done since I'm still catching up from my vacation. I'm a casino host which is nothing like e show Las Vegas made it out to be
I'm truly just a glorified personal assistant to the customers. Sow times I'm their therapist too ! Anyway hoping for a relaxing day

That was one product I couldn't fix to make taste any better to me, no matter what I did.

Today was rough - spent the whole day with a high school group at a competition several hours from home. I think I did well - considering. While they ate hot dogs, I snacked on cauliflower, cucumbers and homemade kale chips. On the way up, I enjoyed my hamburger sans bun or cheese. And I snacked on beef jerky. The only rough patch was the trail mix. I just couldn't resist a handful of nuts. Hopefully that won't kill my week. I knew today would be a challenge. I feel pretty good about it.

Today was the first minor setback I have had on the diet, well it is more a setback in the progress I have made on the numbers side effect of the diet on my diabetes. I have have had my insulin doses lowered 3 times since I started in July but today I am looking at out of control blood glucose levels again and it is so frustrating. I had a bad reaction (normalish for me) to some bug bites on my ankles and shins and ended up with cellulitis on both shins...so now antibiotics and prednisone. I know the blood glucose levels will go back down in 10 or so days when I go off the pred but does anyone know what kind of effect this has on ketosis? Does it have an effect on ketosis?

Today is a mellow day for me. Hanging out with my boyfriend and his 11-year old. They are editing photos and watching Tin-Tin. I am in the bedroom, about to start studying and listening to WNYC and the rain (a rarity for SF) and - odd as it may seem - admiring my legs in yoga pants, how much thinner they look when I cross them under the computer. I know. Weird. Life feels peaceful.

I have been struggling a lot this last week with the desire to workout again. I miss running. I miss cycling. I miss swimming. This is the time of year where, previously, I would be gearing up for Team in Training's Winter Triathlon season. The chill in the air, crisp and inviting of exercise. Remembering standing on the deck of the pool, encapsulated in the chilly air, longing to be in the water, breaking down my stroke and feeling the water over my neck and shoulders as I swim laps. I miss exercise a lot and, for some reason, am mourning its absence in my life.

Because I am having to study so much, along with work, I cannot really begin entering into the exercise again until after my examination on 10/22. My goal, at this point, is to go to P2 after the examination and begin incorporating swimming and walk-run and light cycling back into my life. I am hoping to get to the point where I can start 1/2 marathon training in January. I miss being active but will need to figure out how to fuel my body in a more IP-compliant manner.

Anyhow - sorry for my ramblings. Happy Saturday all!
Sarita...I hear you...and you don't need any more stress!! Don't know what your computer set up is like at home...but there are some REALLY nice Youtube videos for light yoga and pilates to do along with the presenter. I started out doing 10-20 min a day of that along with light stretching as I could do it when it fit my schedule...and I really like it.

There are all levels available.. I'm in a holding pattern now and have stopped as the stretching is not reccomended with my problems......but I absolutely found them satisfying. Maybe a short session a day will help you with stress...and fulfill the desire to do SOMETHING before Oct 22!!

Good luck with it all. My youngest daughter who is a nurse (with a minor in nutrition) is also an attorney. (Highly driven over achiever since she was a baby...and my husbands BP would rise whenever she exploded into the room he was in! But we love her anyway!)...so I know what it's like. And can guess what you do to yourself.

Take care of you...15 min a day of this might help your head and make your desire to be active feel like you are on the way!

Question about ricing cauliflower... I see people mention doing that in a food processor. Possible in a blender? I've only done cauli mash so far from frozen cauliflower which I steamed.
For ricing, does it need to be raw?
(I'm definitely still learning to cook)

I made the IP omelette french toast this morning...ok, but possibly a little too fake egg tasting so I thought I'd try adding cauli or zucchini since those seem to be common additions.

Default Relief with acupuncture

Acupuncture has helped with numerous complaints. I started acupuncture for a back injury that I could not get relief for without major drugs. The pain and the medication was taking over my life. While talking with the doctor discussing my "other aches and pains" she told me she could help me with those as well...and she does. I have often left the clinic amazed at the technique and the relief!

Hi, all! This is my first post, although I've been lurking for a while now.

Just had my WI For week four on IP. Pretty thrilled with those numbers, but my measurements did not drop this week, so kinda feeling bummed about that. Hope it just has to do with my TOM coming in a week...

Oh, well. Time to do lesson plans and watch football!

I am not a chef, but I have only ever riced things that have been cooked. Would love this cauli-mash recipe that I've seen mentioned in this thread! Happy Sunday, everyone!

.
Simplest (easiest cleanup) I've found:
Use hand shredder (the kind with the handle on top and 4 sides)
Put bowl or other container in the sink,to catch the rice.
Shred in sink (into your chosen container)
All the " crumbs" easily rinse into the garbage disposal.
I tried using the food processor. It just takes more cleanup time.
I would think a blender would purée, rather than shred.
DEFINITELY shred it raw.

Awesome, thank you. I downloaded it last night and am looking forward to reading it.

Thank you so much for this. I use a laptop so I could totally do this. I think I might try next weekend. Thank you so much 65x65 and I hope you get out of your holding pattern soon!!!

I add Lizrrr's asparagus puree to almost every soup. Makes them thick and from my humble point of view, more yummy.

The recipe is in her 'Fun with Veggie Purees' thread.

Good luck and good to hear your voice! Keep up the good work!

Thanks Lisa. Easiest cleanup is perfect! I'm going to try this.

I know everyone is different, but I wanted to let you know that my son and daughter-in-law went through 3 IVF treatments - all unsuccessful. It was heartbreaking. Their Dr suggested they 'take a break' from the stress of it, so they did. About 6 mos later - they got pregnant "naturally" and had a healthy baby - the first of their now 3 children! So, it can happen even when you doubt it ever will.

I am so impressed by people who have a devotion to exercise and a healthy body, like you describe. And more than a bit humbled and embarrassed to admit I still have not incorporated ANY regular exercise into my life up to now. Here, you want to desperately but can't, and I certainly can, but just haven't. Your passion makes me want to change that, though! Hope I can take this motivation and act on it!
