Hi all, and hope everyone enjoyed the long weekend!

I was wondering - is there anything any of you have found successful to try to reduce water retention around TOM? Do you find that reducing salt helps? I feel like I am consuming so much more salt on IP that I would be otherwise, which I know is needed because of all the water consumption. Does drinking even more water help? I'm hoping some of you have some tips or home remedies that you've found helpful! Thanks!

Hello All! Just a quick check-in - my first day back at work after 3+ weeks of holidays and it is a beast!

Went for my WI at lunch and I am down 2.1lbs so that makes it officially over 30lbs, yay I can see One-derland in the distance

I will catch up on the posts later - just wanted to share the good news!

Jo

Hello fellow IPers. Congrats to all those who are experiencing loses this week, and for everyone else, just know that if you stick with the plan, you will lose the weight - just be patient.

The past couple of days, I have had a problem where I can't hardly stand the idea of any lean protein source, whether it be eggs, chicken, fish, beef, pork or whatever. I have gotten my veggies in just fine, but the thought of the protein makes me gag. I have ended up with an IP soup packet instead, knowing that this was not ideal, but not sure what else to do.

Anyone else come across this,or have any ideas?

So, I am back. Funny how the mind plays tricks on us. I had a loss of 2.4 pounds when I thought I would see very little. The BodyScan says it is mostly lean mass so we shall see what happens next week but for the meanwhile I will enjoy it. With this loss (assuming it stays as is), I have officially lost 51.1 pounds. Woot! I *never* thought I would be able to say that!

Got a bit of a 'lecture' from my coach about alternative products today. As many of you know, I rarely eat restricted IP items. Well, there was a convo in a thread about the Proti-Thin dark chocolate wafers and I caved. First alternative purchase and a restricted. I generally do not eat them except one (seriously) rare occasions and then it is generally one of the two wafers. Well, this weekend I had a packet of them - a full packet of them. Well, my coach did the "you know, we don't recommend .. blah, blah, blah." I just kind of nodded my head and let her talk and then told her "Well, it is my journey and I appreciate your thoughts and feedback." It was nice but I felt weird, especially as her energy was off due to some personal stuff. Anyhow ... onwards and upwards.

I have been dealing with the exact opposite of the Big C and it is really no fun at all. If it isn't one, it is the other. There seems to be no in-between for me. Oh well, either way, lots of water is always helpful.

Thanks! I love your photo too!! I had the opposite of the Big C a few weeks ago when I increased my water intake and magnesium. Yikes. But now I am back to the same.old.Big.C. Alas.

I wish i had words of wisdom for you. I would try adding lemon to water, which is a diuritic, and may help a little.

sarita75 - I was glad to read that you had a great comeback with "Well, it is my journey and I appreciate your thoughts and feedback."

This whole process is not only about food, it is about us learning to make educated and thoughtful choices in our life.

You did not get to lose 50 pounds (congrats) by being stupid, lazy, or undisciplined, so you are clearly making good choices for yourself. If a moment calls for something 'alternative', good for you to recognize what you needed.

Maybe it is hard for coaches to separate what is best for a client from the $$$$ aspect of selling IP products? Given the cost of the IP products, they should be able to accept that there will not be absolute 100% compliance using IP food very often.

But as they say, the proof is in the pudding (or bars). You are proof that you are doing jest fine!

Well, came back from my weigh in and it was much better than I thought it was going to be (considering I had 2 great loses the past couple of weeks).

Down another 2.4lbs and 2"

Thank you. She did acknowledge the business model in her lecture, for which I was happy. It is, at the end of the day, their business to sell food. But honestly, I have so much IP food (and regularly buy more food) that their "sacrifice" of $15 for what I want that they don't offer isn't really a big deal to me. That being said, my plan is and always has been to go through P3 and, in advance of my beach trip, do a reboot with alternatives (to lose a little bit more weight) so I wanted to experience alternatives with the "safety net" of my coach. Alas. Thanks for your support.

I'm still (of course) struggling a bit to stay OP. I haven't had anything not on plan, just more of what is. I was down .7 which I'll take and be glad for and it does put me at an official 40lb loss! Today I got more sparkling ice waters, they really help keep me out of other things and I bought non restricted IP food and will have the quest bar as my restricted. I was doing both but since things are slowing down, I'm going to try that and STICKING TO THE PLAN! Oy.

But, on a really positive note, I'd had some extra quest bars (2 to be exact) and had made some cheddar garlic biscuits for a get together and I decided you know what? I already ate extra, maybe I'll just call it a cheat and have one or two. So I got it out of the bag, put it to my mouth, and stopped. I realized I didn't even really want it. So I put it back. There's more in the freezer and if those get eaten before I'm done, I can always make more. I know how!

I'm hoping that following the plan and not having a quest and a restricted will get the scale moving faster. It may be unrealistic but I'm really hoping to be down 7.4lbs in 18 days. We'll see what happens!

Those chocolate wafers are amazing. She just doesn't know what she's missing! I think I could have those for a snack forever! Good for you for standing up for yourself!

Way to go sarita75! Congrats on making the 50+ mark, I hit it the week before.

I did have to cut back on restricts this week and switch my meal times around, my body was getting too "comfortable" with the calorie intake and didn't want to burn more than I was eating. I have the metabolism of a snail.

My coach praised me for it and said sometimes we just really have to listen to our bodies. We have to stay on plan but also do what we can to make IP work for us. I have such a great coach! She knows I mix in alternatives and is okay with it because she knows I've done my research and am eating totally OP. She knows not everyone can afford to buy all IP products all the time. And she told me that she has to routinely remind her boss and the doctor that owns the practice that this can't be all about the money. My coach is wonderful, I wish there were a lot more out there like her.

Was wondering if there is a 'water alternative' for a little bit of the water to drink every day...like something flavored??

Many of us add a little of the flavored Mio or similar drops to some (not all) of the daily water (or similar powders like 4C brand). Be sure to check for NO Aspartame. I love both Cascade Ice (I find at local grocery store) and Sparkling Ice (Walmart). Find in aisle with other waters.

Both are carbonated 0/0/0 and come in amazing fruit flavors. I prefer Cascade Ice, especially MacIntosh Apple and Pink Grapefruit as a juice substitute AND the Coconut is BLOW ME AWAY Amazing when I mix a little into IP fruit drinks (first shake w/less water - halfish, then add the drink.) ALSO the coconut mixed with a little WF chocolate syrup - Oh My!!!

Also a little bit of lemon juice goes a long way!

Suggest 1-2 flavor helpers a day (Only 1 of the carbonated) and the rest plain.

That should keep you happily GUZZLING!!
