Default Red Peppers

Good afternoon! I've seen this question before, however I only saw one answer. I am questioning red peppers in Phase 1. I know many of you eat them daily in PH1. My coach told me once while reading my journal that I should only be eating them twice a week and I had been eating them everyday. I told her to check the PH1 sheet, it states ALL BELL PEPPERS. After that, we never discussed it further. I just noticed on the Phase 2 protocol sheet that it now states Green Bell Peppers only. In the occasional area it mentions peppers again. I am confused and I wanted some of you to chime in to see what you are doing. Did I mention that I just polished off some red peppers in my lunch salad for the 3rd day in a row?

My coach says no colored peppers at all, only green bell peppers. However I think each coach is a little different

Hi Sypdergirl..
Yep...I found that just as confusing!!

When I started last winter there was a clear distinction made between the green and the red (and other colors) but that changed over the course of my time on the program. For the official answer...I believe it is that all colors of bell peppers are acceptable now on P1. However, I still limit to green just because that was working for me early on. After a while I expected things might slow a bit in the lbs off department, so I did not want to change what was working well for me. If I get a salad out that has the mixed colored peppers...I enjoy it...and that's the end of it! Meat portion sizes also changed. Wish IP would put something out that explains why a guideline changed, but the inconsistencies of the protocol from site to site are one of the biggest sources of frustration for clients, and allows the credibility of the program to be a target for critics.

Sometimes you have to make your own call.

The newest IP protocol from Feb 2013 (posted in the stickies) has bell peppers listed.

In the past, it was green peppers only.

The most recent P2 protocol is the same. Perhaps you were looking at an older P2 sheet?

I agree regarding inconsistencies...it sure makes it hard to know what is the right answer.

I generally take this to mean use moderation in what/how you eat....4 cups of red peppers is probably NOT the right thing but some will say "If the sheet says I can then I am good".

My mantra is: "Looking for loopholes is the faster way to failure and you are only cheating yourself!".

Thanks everyone for your responses. I am going to stick with eating red peppers. It is possible I have an old protocol sheet. My personal sheet is at home, so I cannot look at the date right now. Its not as if I eat only red peppers. I add them to my salads. I might eat a 1/4 of cup every other day.
