Default Ideal Protein Diet newbie

Hi,

I've been on the ideal protein diet for about a week and a half. I've lost 5 pounds..whoo hoo. I'm a triathlete and I do exercise a lot. I know the plan says not to exercise so I'm trying to lay low. I'm still learning but trying to figure out a plan to stay on this and incorporate some/very little exercising. I don't start training for my next triathlon until October so I think I'm good to go on staying low. Anyone who is past phase 1 how do you feel?

Right now I'm just tired a lot and been researching the heck out of this plan. All the reviews I have read are amazing! So far I've been doing pretty good.

Hey! Welcome to IP! I am just approaching 2 week point myself. I was REALLY tired in the beginning, but now I'm finding that I actually have more energy. I use to work out regularly myself, but I honestly don't think your body gets enough intake for that. My coach told me that if I start to get stir crazy then I can go for a long walk or a hike, but if I do so, then I need an extra IP product that day. Wish you the best of luck!

I am a triathlete too but am out this season awaiting rotator cuff surgery in two weeks. During week 2 I started slow walks about 3.8 mph and stayed in Hear rate zone 1. I think any easy bike or spinning and swimming that stays in that low HR zone is ok and helps give muscle memory. As for running, I've started again but pool jogging is a good option too!

HI Iron Bucket
I was also really concerned about the exercise. I have run the Marine Corp Marathon and was going to run again this year but made the decision that weight loss is most important for me at this stage an then have a marathon goal next year....

I am not sure if you have heard of Ben Greenfield...he is a Triathlete and of late has some great blog posts about maintaining performance on a low carb diet. There are some amazing new products out there which are not the typical burst of glucose.

Good luck on the diet. I am day 3 here...
