Ideal Protein - Motivation Badly Needed!!

I started week 2 of Ideal Protein this past Thursday. In week one I lost 10 pounds. Honestly I think MOST of that was due to the decrease in soda intake. When I say I was ADDICTED to Dr. Pepper, it was a REAL addiction. I was having between 6 & 8 a day. My dietitian told me to switch to Diet Dr. Pepper & to have 1 with Breakfast, Lunch, & Dinner but not to exceed 3 a day. So far, I'm doing GREAT on that. But since week 2 has started, (4 days ago) I have gotten nowhere. Seems I've gained a pound, but I've been following the protocol (aside from the unlimited lettuce part) Is there such thing as eating meals too close together?? How do I hold on to hope that I can do this?? :(

I think you need a reality check. 10 lbs in the first week is a big loss. You cannot expect this to continue. 1 lb of fat equals to 3500 cal deficit. You are also not extremely overweight, so your future losses will likely not be that significant. 2 lbs rather than 4. You also do not need hope. You need a life style change and the determination to pull it through. Hope is for the weak.

@lolo70 - at first I was offended by your response. But then I got to thinking, you know, she's right. I'm paying someone $100 a week right now to help me lose weight and make changes I could probably make by myself with enough determination to make that lifestyle change. But thing is, I always lose motivation. The only reason I got with this program is for the coaches who basically "make" you obey the rules. I may not be extremely overweight but I am extremely unhappy with how I look.

Come see us in the Ideal Protein thread! You are not the only person who is having trouble! I tried to do ideal protein without a coach and I lasted about one week. You better believe I miss my Pepsi's! I never drank as much soda as you but I bet that's making a huge difference. We are all going to tell you to ditch the diet soda too so prepare for that

If you are not exercising yet, you should start once you are done with P1. Or you could add some light workouts now and intensify later. I have found that gaining muscle tone is a lot more exciting to me than seeing fat go. It also puts me in a different state of mind. I don't know whether it is the difference in hormone balance or the fact that you see quite dramatic changes fast even if the scale does not move. It keeps me totally motivated. In any event, once you have lost all the weight, you will need to find a way to eat that is sufficiently different from before. Otherwise you will just gain the weight back. Now that would be demotivating indeed.
