Wesstrom, my advice is to pick a "trigger" weight, and any morning when you weigh in more than that weight, do a Phase 1 day. Also, I use 'My Fitness Pal' to get an idea on calories when I am not doing Phase 1, and stay at less than my "maintenance" number of calories (according to them) for my goal weight. I *do* do a "fun day" and eat favorites without worrying about calories or carbs/fats separation on that day. Except for the fun day, I plan and monitor what I am eating pretty closely.
I need help ! I have gained 9 pounds ! since January, Can someone give me a sample menu to lose these pounds
without having to use IP products, just don't want to have to spend the money , I lost 75 pounds and don't want to gain anymore , I have spent a few thousands dollars already on IP!
If you go to the Sticky at the top of IP, there is a post on alternative products. A lot of people use quest bars as a substitute. You can also just eat as low carb as possible. Plan your meals ahead as much as possible. Try to eat Phase 1 using alternate foods such as quest bars or eat low carb. Good luck on rebooting.

Thanks dak1lls! I agree with you. I'll be doing 2 weeks of both phases 1 & 2...I don't want any regrets. I am soooo looking forward to those phase 3 breakfasts though! I love breakfast! :-)
I went in today & lost 8 inches over the past couple of weeks. I'm thinking of staying phase 1 until Christmas. And that will be here before we know it!!
I wanted to make my sweetie some chocolate chip cookies as a special treat and found a recipe on Elana's Pantry. He loved them and said they were delicious. He said I must love him since I am feeding him so "well" now. "Well" meaning "healthy"! Lol. I love finding good Paleo recipes, especially for his favorite things.
Thanks for the replies I am thinking of a trigger weight of 5 lbs over my goal. Does that sound reasonable? I may adjust just because I haven't gained those 3 lbs back yet that we are supposed to.
What amount of fat do you have with your supper, any? I looked at that new cook book by vereti or whatever his name is and his supper meals did contain some fat.

I try to keep fat to an absolute minimum for dinner, usually it is just the grapeseed oil i use to cook. Last night i put a tsp of butter in with the mashed rutabaga, but that made like 4 servings. I eat my fat at lunch, usually in the form of some cheese on my salad or a fattier dressing. However, I love my homemade Italian dressing so much, I actually prefer it now.
Wesstrom: 5 pounds seems reasonable. The Weight Control registry recommend a 3 percent up or down range. I think the 5 pounds is healthy. I use olive oil to stir fry or spray roasted vegetables with it ..for dinners.
Dakjlis: I am going to have to try grapeseed oil. I have never tried it. What do you put in your Italian dressing?
Soso: It really helped me to allow myself a range for maintenance. If you have a 5 pound up or down range, that helps. Your weight will not stay exactly at goal every day! Hope you find the alternatives that work for you.
Are you all ready for Thanksgiving? Who's cooking?
We go to my SIL 20min away. I have to prepare 10lbs mashed potatoes, ugh!
Been doing them for like 10 years so now its just a given.
Found a Paleo apple cake recipe, gonna try it tonight and see if it will be good enough to
share that day.
Anything special you're gonna prepare thats different since you've been on
maintenance? Please share, thanks!
I was wondering if anyone has tried that guacamole made with asparagus instead of avocados for a dip? I saw the recipe here.
I don't envy you making 10 pounds of mashed potatoes! are you going to take mashed cauliflower as well?
I am going to be spending Thanksgiving in Kauai so I won't cook!
I LOVE the mockamole! It really hits the spot.
My frequent lunch on P1 was potoato puree breadsticks and mockamole (2 c raw asparagus makes a small amount of mockamole)
Now that I can have avocados I don't worry as much, but still eat it with veggies instead of chips. You can even use half avocado & half asparagus, if you'd like.
For Thanksgiving, I'm taking green beans and a sugar-free, crustless low carb pumpkin pie (basically the filling in a pan). I'm also taking a single serving of caulimash for me. I really don't miss potatoes
DH and I go to relatives on THE day but also roast our own turkey over the weekend. We've become very simple eaters. We will not miss stuffing, bread, potatoes, etc. DH may have a very small sweet potato, if we can find him one. Other than that, caulimash, green beans, perhaps some roasted brussels sprouts.
On another note: I had more carbs than my body liked over the weekend. I spent Sunday with puffy hands/feet (my hands were uncomfortably puffy). A return to P1/2-style eating has my inflammation/water weight back down & I'm feeling much better. I actually LIKE the fact that excess carbs give me adverse reactions. It will help keep me in check. I literally felt hungover. Not a good feeling AT.ALL.

Maile: I find that the Grapeseed oil adds a creamy texture to sauces as well, in place of using something fattier, like butter. Here is the Italian Dressing Mix recipe I use:
1 T Garlic Salt (I use powder)
1 T Onion Powder
1 T White Sugar (I use a little Splenda or Stevia)
2 T Dried Oregano
1 t Ground Black Pepper
1/4 t Dried Thyme
1 t. Dried Basil
1 T Dried Parsley
1/4 t Celery Salt
2 T Salt
Directions:
1. In a small bowl, mix together the above ingredients. Store in a tightly sealed container.
2. To prepare dressing, whisk together 1/4 c. white vinegar (I used cider), 2/3 c. grapeseed oil, 2 T. water, and 2 T of the dry mix.
I have used this right after mixing and it is good, but it is much better after it marinates together for a while. I keep a mixed container in the fridge all the time. My favorite salad with this is romaine lettuce, diced tomatoes, grilled fajita chicken, and a sprinkling of Parmesan cheese.
I have used this dressing to marinate beef for kabobs, and chicken to grill. It is yummy!
