Default Mayo?

Is mayo allowed on P1?? I use it everyday as part of ingredient to make salad dressing with Dijon mustard, apple cider and splenda since the start. I have lost close to 30lbs in about 6 weeks and wounder if the mayo is slowing things down. I could not find anywhere why the mayo is not allowed?

It's not on your Phase 1 sheet as an approved condiment - therefore it is not allowed

Sorry, mayonnaise is NOT allowed. Contains dairy, oil and possibly sugars (depending on the brand. If you like 'creamy' dressing, try using mustard with apple cider vinegar, olive oil and herbs. If you shake it really good, it's thick enough to cling to your lettuce/greens.

Depends on if you're buying or making
Commercially prepared mayo often contains sugar
It is VERY easy to make, however, and all ingredients are on the sheet. You'd still have to be very careful of portions

As an aside, 30 in 6 weeks isn't slow at all but things that allow us to lose fast at first could slow us later

30 lbs in 6 weeks is not a slow rate. I would love to being losing 5 lbs per week! You should be celebrating!

Here is my mayo recipe. I don't use it often - but it contains all P1 ingredients. Just have to consider the amt of oil.

1 large egg; 2 tablespoons lemon juice; 1/4 cup plus 1 cup light-tasting olive oil (not extra-virgin!); 1/2 teaspoon dry mustard; 1/2 teaspoon salt

Let lemon juice and egg 'visit' and come to room temp - then mix and SLOWLY add the oil to emulsify. Sometimes I add dill. I use my food processor and it makes it 'fluffy'. I'm about to try using my immersion blender and see how it works.

yeah, mayo is one of the most fattening foods out there. I would give silken tofu a shot as a sub for your mayo, it works really well to make a creamy dressing. It comes in a box...mori-nu is the most popular brand
