I have tracked my daily intake on My Fitness Pal since my 4th month on IP. So I am speaking from personal experience with strict adherence to Phase 1. You're welcome!

Thank you! Finally someone got my question.

When I did a count, it was 67 CHO. (This is using the "Total Carb" field on the back of the IP food, and the chart I was given for veggies. We don't count net carbs in my clinic-that's more an Atkins term I think.)

I was stalling, and am trying to figure out why. But when I cut back to around 25-30 total CHO, I felt like I was going to pass out every day around 3:30pm.

Thanks.

The carb guidelines for IP are based on Net carbs, so if you are at 67-70 total carbs you are right where you should be once you subtract the fiber.

There are so many reasons why a stall might happen, and unless you are hypersensitive to carbs you wouldn't be stalling from a slight increase in carb intake. Are we talking about multiple weeks with no change in the scale or the tape measure, or just a week?

Many of the IP products use whey protein, so it doesn't make sense that you would be told that. Syntrax Nectars are perfectly fine to use on Phase 1 - just be aware that they are thinner than the IP drink mixes.

peach mango drink
mushroom soup
RTD vanilla.

Has anyone else counted their carbs in a day's worth of their favorite IP food??
I track all my food every day. I would say my average is 50 to 60 carbs total a day, not net. I have had my carbs be as high as 80 grams twice, but my fiber those days were super high as well. It's just not anything I worry about since I know I am following the protocol.

The info you were given, I wasn't given at all, it would drive me crazy to try to stay that low carb wise. Also if you hang around the forums long enough you will see how every clinic will give varying degrees of information, sometimes out right different all together. One example is some clinics will say sugar free gum is okay and others will say its strictly a no no.

I thought I would include this for you, There are two different videos and then comments at the bottom: Restricted and Unrestricted Ideal Protein Foods

LilacPants - what you will find the more you read this forum is that there are MANY coaches who try and "tweak" the program - most with good intentions but based on conventional dieting wisdom (a ketogenic diet like IP does not operate metabolically like other diets) - some because they are trying to "game" the program and get their clients to have higher losses.

Average weekly losses should be about 2-3lbs per week. Higher than that is an unrealistic expectation for most people. Aiming for the lowest carb items and the lowest carb veggies will not produce the largest losses (again, conventional dieting wisdom at play here).

I can tell you that the literature you were given regarding carb count is not from IP corporate. It sounds like an individual clinic tweak.

It's nice to get the feedback.

On another note, it seems when I add restricteds into the mix, I lose slowly or not at all.

Also, my doc (I do this diet under the care of a doc) and I chatted and he thinks I might be gluten sensitive as I had lots of GI issues that have gone away since I've been on the diet and eating low carb. We stumbled into this theory when he asked if I was having potty problems and I said no, in fact, I'm more regular now than I was before I started IP.
So are you not eating any restricteds???

Your clinic only wants you to buy food from them. It is part of the agreement with them to support you through this diet.

Angry Week one no weight loss

Hi all
I started IP last Wednesday and had a WI today at my coach that resulted in no weight loss. She had me pee on the Ketostix and it showed I'm not in Ketosis. I started this because a friend recommended it due to VERY high sugar levels as evidenced by bloodwork. I also have Thyroid disease. I decided to stick it out, but I'm concerned.
