Winter squash typically has a thick hard shell (like pumpkin, butternut squash, etc). The summer squash has a thin skin on it that is edible or can easily be peeled.

So my WI ended up being today at 11am instead of last evening at 5pm due to blowing snow. I was not expecting much since I went to a Zumbathon on Saturday and couldn't just sit still or take it easy.. lol had a blast! so I had a a IP RTD mango smoothie in the afternoon as and extra boost, and took it easy on Sunday. On Monday the weather was bad and I rushed out the door without my lunch and didn't realize it until I got back from my tanning appt so no time to go home or anywhere to get something so I made do with the help of my co-workers. I was able to make a salad with donated items and some jicama that I had in the fridge at work, and one of the guys had some wild boar he had cooked up over the weekend I had a couple of bites but not too much as he marinated it in pineapple juice and it was a little sweet, and TOM looming, that all being said I was still -.2 lbs and -1.75 inches overall a surprisingly successful WI.
Thank you all for sharing your successes and your struggles, it makes all of us feel "NORMAL".

Congratulations you are very inspiring!!!

[QUOTE=Lizzeelee;4710906]Good morning! Congrats on some awesome losses - and good luck to todays WI's!

Yesterday was a rough day here. Got a call from my dr. and was given MRI results from a knee injury I got on Easter Sunday: fully ruptured ACL and torn meniscus - so looking forward to some not-so-fun decisions coming up. If that wasn't enough, my DH called me an hour later letting me know that our basement was flooded!! We live in Iowa and got over 4" yesterday - yuck! Stayed OP though and at the end of the day had my weigh-in ... -4.2 lbs!! I needed that - also finally lost an inch off of both arms. Thank you, Ideal Protein!! <3

Thanks for letting me vent - things will be fine...just a little inconvenient and expensive for awhile.

~Liz

Hang in there! Praying you heal quickly.

a NSV for thursday. I went out to lunch today with some out of town clients and did fine. I ordered Branzino (sp?) a white fish and replaced the potatoes with asparagus. I started with an argula salad with lemon and just a hint of parmesan. I'm doing the alternative version of Phase 1 so I will count the cheese as my dairy for the day. The bigger thing for me was not missing the bread basket or dessert. I had a skim cappuccino for my dessert. I love this new way of living my life day to day. Especially since I didn't really feel deprived with the exception of not partaking in the red wine that the table was enjoying. But that is also a choice that I always try to make since I don't like to drink at lunchtime because it throws off my entire day. So all in all, a great NSV.

Depends on how it is made.

If it uses all ingredients listed on the phase 1 sheet, then it's fine. But since kimchi can include different veggies depending on who makes it, just make sure you double check.

You NEED those veggies! Besides, it is teaching us BETTER eating habits!
If it was too much at one meal, plan a snack or add some to breakfast, as well.
You can also sneak spinach into a a salad (spinach is a veggie but if you mix it with lettuce then you have both), pureed veggies mixed with soups, or spinach in your morning smoothies (use raw)
Soon you'll wish you could have MORE than 4c daily, won't she longtimers?
Thanks, again. I had a cup of celery an hour before dinner, and I added spinach to the salad at dinner. That helped a lot! Still a challenge for me, but it is only day 1.
