I was driving past a GNC at lunchtime so I decided to stop and purchase 1, and only 1, Quest bar. I had it for lunch on the road, and had my veggies as soon as I got home. More than one in the house is dangerous for me. The frugal part of me hated passing up the "buy 3 get 1 free", but I know my limits.
In fact, just having that one bar as my lunch protein packet has left me craving more. Thank goodness I didn't bring any more home.

IP's strawberry wafer which has no restrictions, other than no more than 1 per day, is 200 calories with 80 coming from fat.
Wouldn't that make it not allowed? Because more than 30% of the calories come from fat...

No, there are several IP products that have more than 30% calories from fat.

Princess: I have the same problem with Quest bards. Have to buy one. And not the ones I like the best (double choc chunk or choc chip cookie dough)

But the "guidelines" for choosing alts is based on averages & on average, most IP foods are below 30%

But she said not "allowed", not necessarily restricted vs. non-restricted.

My favorite is the cinnamon roll - so yummy! But SEE THERE - I'm still thinking about the one I had for lunch!! why oh why do I do that?! Dangerous for me! If I had bought a box, I would have eaten a box!
Guess I will have my water and go to bed - LOL! But, it was worth it.

for a treat I like to heat them a bit in my microwave or better yet in a convection oven at 375 for about 5 mins.

I have found that a Quest bar for breakfast really does the trick for me. Have been eating Quest bars for maybe a year now. Was enjoying them long before I found IP.

I was eating a chocolate chip cookie dough quest bar when I opened and read this thread! LOL! I consider all Quest bars a once-a-day restricted for me. Like some, I find they really satisfy my sweet tooth. The other reason I like them so much is because I feel so FULL after I eat one. I can eat some of the IP restricteds and it's like I didn't put any food in my mouth at all- still totally hungry after. It's nice to find a restricted that leaves me full and provides the fiber missing from IP only products.

However, I can see how they would be a hinderance to anyone who has struggled with binge eating. I guess this is one of the times when you really need to know yourself and what your triggers are- then avoid them. Good job PP on only buying a single bar. That was a good strategy.

I was looking at GNC's website at the nutrition info for the newest bar the "double Chocolate Chuck" and on the front of the ba it says "3 net carbs" but total carbs are 25g, and Fiber is 16g, wouldn't that make it a 9 net carb?

For my purposes, yes. This is why it is important to do your own math and not rely on labeling from companies. They are also subtracting the sugar alcohols. I do not. I find they have an impact in my blood sugar ;and hence, insulin production). Ymmv
This is also why I count those bars as restricteds.

Today is my 3rd day back on plan, I am tired, cranky, blah, blah, blah. Came home and was hungry like a bear. Was so excited to find that I had one chocolate brownie quest bar left. I count it a one of my package for the day. I am now a happy camper.
