Getting ready to go out and battle the storm! Hoping Hubby has better luck with the snowblower (seemed too heavy for the blades to spin last night-hoping the temps went down and it's FLUFFY out there)! Think we're around two feet so far! Ugh! At least we still have power! Woot woot!!!

I get really confused whether or not I should be taking in an additional packet when I'm doing all this shoveling. Don't want my losses to stall!! Any suggestions appreciated!

Have a great day everyone!!
Shoveling is actually hard work. If the snow is as heavy as it was here, then I would definitely have an extra packet, especially if you are out there for 30 minutes or more. A quick search on the internet says roughly 200 calories for every 30 minutes shoveling! That's a lot for an IP person! An extra packet for one day shouldn't make you stall!

Good morning!! Looks like we got about 3 feet of snow here also and it's still snowing like crazy. My DH works for a utility company so he's been gone since yesterday to help restore power...Luckily I have amazing neighbors and they will be coming over to help me dig out...once they're dug out! LOL

The snow is right up to the porch so when my dog went out to pee, she got confused and peed on the porch! I guess I'll have to shovel her a path off the porch! This is ridiculous!!!

Thank goodness I have all my food supplies...I guess I'll be roasting some veggies, making some flatbread and some chicken broth...as long as I have power!

Congrats on not giving in! Hard to do when the hormones start talking

Try cooking up some veggies and purée them and add to your soups. Spinach in your shakes in the blender.

Also, instead of nasty canned chicken noodle, use chicken broth with the pre-cooked chicken & some steamed shredded veggies. On-plan and wayyy healthier (have you READ the ingredients in that can?!?)
When I'm not sick (or just staring to come down with something) I make a pot of chicken broth from leftover chicken carcasses I saved in the freezer. When you're already sick and feeling nasty, this is just too much work. I sometimes have DH stop for a rotisserie chicken & some frozen veggies & I pull the meat off the bone, make my broth, throw the meat & veggies back in & viola, soup!
Great advice Lisa! I also would encourage everyone to remember how awful that first week of IP was. I know is sucks being sick, but you will be happy you stayed OP through it and not have to go back and relive that first week again. It's best to stick it out if you can. Also, don't be surprised if you don't see much movement on the scale. When you're sick there is usually inflammation and water retention. It will all WHOOSH away when you feel better.

Also, do you use the Ideal Protein Multi-Vita, Potassium-Calcium and Cal-Mag or can these be purchased elsewhere at a lesser cost?

I know some of you have the answers to these questions and I look forward to your responses....thank you.
RE: the vitamins, I have used alternative products since week 8 but I have continued to use the IP supplements. The FORMS of the different nutrients matter, IP is hard on your body and the IP supplements are the most bioavailable (easiest for your body to process) forms of the nutrients. The dosing isn't even the same (100mg of potassium gluconate is NOT the same thing as 100mg of potassium bicarbonate). You can purchase the IP supplements a little cheaper at www.plainprotein.com

OK Lisa-- now you're starting to get demanding with the redvelvet demands! LOL. However, I AM inspired to try making that burger bun this week Is the Potato Puree pack the best one to use for making a bun? The cereal one and the crepe one both have a sweet taste to them so I doubt it's those.

Ahem: That would be a REQUEST!
Girl: Do your reading! Rainbow posted a wonderful bun recipe on one of her recipes from the rainbow threads.

My go to dessert is WLS cheesecake pudding with LizzRR's rhubarb Jam purée.
Tastes just like strawberry cheesecake.
Thank you for making my IP journey a little bit easier.

Sorry you're having trouble sleeping. I am the opposite, before IP I would wake up in the middle of the night and couldn't quiet my mind for a couple of hours to go back to sleep. Now I sleep the best I've slept in years. When I wake up I have to wipe the drool from my face.

I do use all the IP vitamins. I do agree that they are kinda spendy. Best of luck to you.

Good morning all! I have a fun day of catching up from being off of work and doing homework for my grad school class due on Monday. My 3 year old was sick with the flu for most of the week but is finally feeling better (thank goodness!). Now I can hopefully get something done!

As far as being OP - I have been struggling a bit but am trying to stay on plan. Couldn't make my weigh in since I was home all week so my husband picked up some food to last me the week from the office he goes to. Hoping for a good, OP weekend, and a good loss next Wednesday!

We were spared extensive snow only about a half a foot or so. I cringe at hubby shoveling, he has had a heart attack and 3 stents and me, well, I broke my back and neck many yrs. ago and have surgeries and shoulder surgery, so when the snow is too heavy to blow, I either drive through it or wait until it melts which it will start to tomorrow already, going up in temp and rain, YUCK!

RAINBOW: I almost came through the computer screen, that food looked AMAZING. Hubby loves the rhutabega fries too. I grew up eating rhutabega, so I have always loved it. I remeber in High School turning a couple of friends onto it, they were grossed out until they tried it. lol

Stay safe and warm, I LOVE days like this, SEW, QUILT, CRAFT, DRINK HOT TEA

Wow...what a great site! I've been reading these threads for a little while now. So today, I'm actually starting the program. I have a little more than 30 lbs to lose...hopefully before summer arrives! . I just want to feel GREAT again!

My family has been encouraging me to get started. So today my husband and girls are my "kitchen cops!"..making sure that I behave.

I hope that everyone stays safe & warm this weekend!
