Does anyone have any information about using Egg Beaters in place of the IP Omlets?

Hi,

I just looked up the nutritional info and I see that the original one has 0 fat and 0 carb so you can use it, but for the florentine has 2g of carb.

Started IP 06-30-11 @250lbs - Started alternatives mid Oct. 2011 - Stopped on Christmas 2011 (biggest mistake of my life) Lost 50lbs by then. Gained back all the weight I lost + 15 more lbs after IVF in 2013.
Many re-starts failed miserably. I stopped IP as I wasn't sticking to the plan but always try to re-start.

Nope. I do use my eggs to make a fabulous omelette -- often just egg whites-- and then add my IP product later in the morning (like a shake)
I don't know if there are any carbs added to the egg beaters things. You could compare the IP omelette info with the info on the side of your egg beaters to see how protein/carbs etc. compare. The IP info is on the stickies at the top of the page if you don't have that info in your IP info pack.

I meant in place of the IP Omlet...The IP Omlet has 7 carbs and 120 calories. So I was going to use Egg Beaters in place of the omlet for breakfast. I am trying to save money and I wanted to replace the Fine herbs and cheese IP Omlet with the Egg Beaters. I wanted to know if anyone has done this and does it work???

I used Egg Beaters alone when I was extra hungry. I sprayed a ramekin with Pam and used the equivalent of two egg whites. I microwaved them ( think for 40 seconds).

If you're not following the IP program then you have to look at comparable alternatives. From what you're saying, it could work as far as the carb count goes, but I don't know how much protein is in an omelette vs. the egg beaters. If you don't think you're getting as much protein as needed then you'll need to supplement the protein part. The "egg serving" on the IP plan for supper is 4 eggs + 2 egg whites and I'm sure that's way more than you're having in your omelette That's why I suggested you have your "shake" or whatever you'd have as your snack in the morning to make sure you're getting in your protein if you need it.

There are also alternative omelette products available through http://www.nashuanutrition.com/store...ese-7-box.html that some of the folks here use, and they are more inexpensive than IP. I was just looking at their website, and I see that Healthsmart sells a box of 7 omelette packets for $16.00, and it's currently on special for $11.50. If you go this route, you might want to check into the threads here that talk about alternative products for more specific recommendations.

My friend who is at goal used Egg Beaters for her entire IP P1 instead of a packet. She sent me the info one day with a big (ssshhhh!)...trying to be a big secret! LOL

LOL.... Yes - it will definitely be a good-sized omelette. Filling Actually, I'm thinking I may put this into my meal planning too... I just never considered it before. I've never been a fan of the IP or alternative product packet omelettes, but can see myself enjoying an Eggbeaters one with some veggies. I do eat 'real' eggs and egg whites in an omelette from time to time, but gotta say I like the low fat and cholesterol in Eggbeaters.

I use Egg Beaters on occasion as a substitute. You do have to be hungry, since you'll be making a pretty good sized omelet! My coach would rather I use solely IP products but acknowledged that using Egg Beaters was not a problem in terms of nutrition or calorie content, and is an equivalent substitute.

I also use the Premier Protein shakes from Costco that have 30 g of protein for one shake -- so that's like 2 IP shakes protein wise. Because of that, I don't worry when I make an omelette instead of using an IP pack once in awhile. I always worry I'm getting too much protein due to those shakes. But I love 'em

I know I couldn't substitute egg beaters for real eggs as my protein at dinner. This was because the fat and cholesterol of real eggs was needed. I imagine you probably should use the IP protein for some unknown reason...

I am like you IP43 - LOVE those Premier Protein shakes This afternoon I made 2 eggs worth of Egg Beaters Egg Whites scrambled with sea salt, pepper, and a spray of "I can't believe it's not butter" and it was delicious. I was thinking of making a larger sized one for breakfast every once in a while instead of one of the shakes. Nice that this topic came up for me
