I'm so glad that someone posted this question! I've been thinking about "going rogue", due to cost and the fact that I really don't care for my coach's style of "motivating" me. It's good to hear real life success stories!

I think that I would probably want to keep taking the IP supplements, because I haven't seen any comparable product anywhere. I have seen them available online through plainprotein.com

LOL as I like to say, welcome to the "Rogues Gallery"

I started using some alternative products around week 8, went completely alternative on week 10 and have never looked back! My first 33.9 lbs were on IP products, but the remaining 29.1 lbs has all been on alternatives. My losses have slowed up a bit in the last few weeks because I'm almost at goal and have been re-introducing exercise, I do not attribute that to the alternative products in any way.

WOW! I remember when you first started. Totally not fair that men lose faster than woman.

I spent the first 3 months strictly on IP and lost 46 pounds. I had a coach who was very demoralizing and wouldn't follow the program herself (cheated all of the time). I read all the threads on alternatives, took the comparison spreadsheet and did my research. I started on alternatives 9 months ago and now my total loss is just short of 110#. Like scorbett, I've slowed now since I have less than 20#s left to lose, but I've pretty much lost at the same rate as the first 3 months. Also, I'm 63 years old. Weight is MUCH harder to lose as you get older.

Just follow IPs guidelines and match the alternative products to IP.

MaMaZu, I'd be interested to find out what products you used.

Some of the people you have responded to haven't been posting lately ( check post dates)

Check out these threads for info in alternatives

So does that mean that IP claim that their protein is more easily absorbed than the alternatives is not true?
I do believe there is a difference in the alternatives in the US vs. Canada. I know ours have corn syrup and maltodextrin - not sure if the Canadian brands have these GMO products in theirs.

Default Alternatives while on antibiotics

This thread is helpful...
Last evening I had a little mishap in the kitchen preparing dinner and ended up at the walk-in urgent care nearby and left with stitches and a two week protocol of doxyclycline. Knowing antibiotics slow things down on this protocol.......I'm considering using alternatives until that treatment is done. Anyone ever try doing something like that for a short time and how did it work out?
Thanks-

It is the supplements that interfere with the antibiotics, not the IP packets themselves. You will need to stop the supplements for as long as you are on antibiotics, then you can start them again.

Editing to add that if you continue the supplements, the antibiotics won't work. That is more important at the moment than a pound or two.
