Default Always cold?

Is anyone else always cold? Seriously, once the temperature in the room is below about 70 or 72 degrees, I'm freezing. This is totally new for me. It's not necessarily a bad thing, since I also have MS and getting overheated with you have MS is a bad idea...wipes me out completely and exacerbates symptoms. I was just wondering if it has anything to do with the weight loss...if so, it's a price I will pay gladly!

Same here!! I litteraly shiver all the time so I asked my coach and she said it was a totally normal side effect to the weight loss your body needs to adjust I guess but we are not giving it the time to do so

Yep, me too. Thankfully the boyfriend is a willing hot water bottle...unless I warm my feet up on him of course! I imagine it's normal, we're all losing our insulation, so it'll take our bodies time to get used to it.
My final goal-140lbs

My weight loss has definitely changed my temperature sensitivity. I never used to even own more than one cardigan and a couple long-sleeve tops, because even in situations where most people were cold, I was comfortable or overheated.

Cold is actually a little easier to deal with, because you can always add more layers, but there's only so much you can take off (especially in public).

The biggest problem for me is when I'm feeling cold AND my fibromyalgia is causing a severe skin-flare (where my skin is so painful and sensitive that even my softest clothing feels like scratchy burlap). In the past, I would literally have to lie in bed nude, with only a sheet or light comforter for covering.

Luckily those flares don't happen much anymore, and when they do, I do wear as little as possible in bed, but now there's an electric blanket on top of the sheet or comforter. Luckily electric blankets are a lot softer and lighter than they used to be.

I still get overheated easily, so now I have this rather narrow range of comfort. It seems I'm almost always too hot or too cold, and whenever I'm perfectly comfortable it's such a treat that I want to stay there forever.

This morning in bed was a perfect example. The temperature was so perfect it was hard to justify getting out of bed. The only reason I dragged myself out of bed is that we're having folks over for some board games tonight.

Since I am still overweight, my problem is still being too hot when everyone else is cold... However, I do remember once upon a time when I was slim, that I was often cold then. Everyone used to say it's a circulation problem, and that if I were to exercise more, I would not be feeling so cold. Alas, my choice was to binge-eat instead....

Anywho, one note of caution: feeling cold or being too sensitive to cold can indicate hypo-thyroidism. Unfortunately, hard stools or constipation, fatigue or feeling slowed down, and heavier menstrual periods are also some indicators of hypo-thyroidism and all of them are common on this diet (but not because of hypo-thyroidism). I wouldn't be alarmed by any of these "symptoms" unless they really feel wrong or excessive...or if you have a history of this problem...but if you want to be on a safe side, mention it to your doctor and maybe Dr. will think it's worth checking out with tests....

Yes, it has to do with the leptin levels etc. Just read an article on the fab 50+ thread.....yes I am over 50!!!! Although I dont like being cold, Im getting to wear sweaters that I havent worn 1.becuz I was too fat and 2 becuz I was always hot. Im hoping this continues into the summer! w/ temps above 100 I would not mind a little less sweating!!!! (um glowing....women dont sweat) hahahaha

TOTAL:100 !!!!
4/8/13 - 14 lbs from NORMAL weight range!
2/26/13 - Onederland!
2/11/13 - no longer obese!!!!!!

I was cold all the time (almost too much so). Went for a blood test at the doc and my thyroid has gone out of whack since I've been on IP. I just started on meds for hypothyroid. I'm 49 & have never had thyroid issues before. Dont ignore symptoms and don't let coaches explain them away. Be monitored by a Dr. while losing weight!

I read last night that hot or cold feelings can be a sign of ketosis. Experiencing popscicle toes hopefully that is what it is! Day 5 for me.

...it hasn't gotten better for me...course I'm in -30C today, no ONE...NO ONE likes that...ok some of us do but I sure as heck don't . And it bothers me more now then it did before.

I discovered hot lemon water while on Phase 1 and still drink it daily to help with the chill.

I have been so cold on this diet. My hubby and son were complaining because I turned the heat up so bad they were sweating. Best thing I did is buy Bearpaw shearling lined boots (caught them on sale at Macy's) and Patagonia thermals. The boots are made to be worn sockless, so I wear them all day and when the feet feel warm, it's lots easier for the rest of me to feel warm. I've even worn them to bed a few nites. Yes, I did! Plus the patagonia thermals are very light weight and can be worn under jeans, regular clothes. And the ladies choices are pretty. Both were well worth the investment for me. I discovered patagonia thermals when my hubby was working in the Kyrgyzstan mountains in winter and asked me to send him warm things. I asked the REI folks what they recommended for max warm, ease of wear. They come in different weights, light, mid, expedition, but all were light to wear. My husband said they were incredible.

Ishbel-How do you do it?!! I am cold and I'm in balmy Louisiana!

Entered Maintenance Feb. 19, 2013 at 144 lbs.
Started reboot June 18, 2014.

I'm cold all the time too, but as a previous poster stated, it is because of the diet/rapid weight loss...so I'll happily endure the freeze.

I live in Denver so hand warmers are essential!
