My closet used to have 6 suits. Now I am down to 2 that I will dare to wear. I retired one that I wore today when I looked in the mirror at a clients office and realized I looked like I should be in the center ring at the circus. Just needed the squirting flower.
I wear a suit daily so making 2 work is tough. I did buy a blazer and new slacks this week, it's no suit but will make do till I drop another 12 lbs. then I can buy a little tight and alter when I am at goal.
Asked the tailor about taking in dress shirts and they want $20 per shirt and they would still be big in the neck.
Okay I will stop b*^+~ing cause it is fun to hear the comments about how much weight I've lost!
Shoot. Banana Republic just had a friends and family sale last weekend--50% off any five items. Maybe keep an eye out for similar sales? But there are other ways to do this. I recommend discount stors like Nordstrom Rack and Marshalls. Or outlets--I like Banana and Kenneth Cole for work stuff. Weirdly, my favorite suits have come from Marshalls. My DF also buys some shirts from Costco. They are cheap. He really doesn't love them and won't wear them when he has to go to court, but for any other day of the week, he will use those. They are no-wrinkle, too, which is helpful.
I totally understand your work clothes pain. I have struggled with this, too. I have the biggest stack of suits and slacks that just do not fit at all because they are way too big. On the upside, we both have a big stack of suits that JUST DON'T FIT AT ALL BECAUSE THEY ARE TOO BIG!!!!! Go us!!!
I hear you ladies! I am having the same problem with suits. Right now I am doing a lot of slacks and cardigans with tank tops under as they don't have to be as fitted. I hate to buy anything as I seem to be dropping about a size a month.
My Mom and Sister have been fantastic with loaning me clothes. Once I fit into their stuff, I wear it until it is too big and then return it to them all cleaned up and pressed and move down to the next sizes.
Even my shoes are getting too big!
I had a friend who did IP before me, and she gave me her clothes that she had bought as she was losing. I am now down to a 14 from a 26 and can just get into the pants. I think the best part of htis though is to wear heels again. I love shoes and to be able to wear my boots and favorite shoes just brightens my day!
I'm happy to live vicariously through other people's shoes. I could never manage 5 inch heels but they are gorgeous.
I am finding it very much depends on the shoe and its support and angle., I just ordered non-slip foot petals and heel cushions for my shoes because my heel likes to come out of some. For that same reason I find it very hard to wear sling backs.
I am super jealous of those shoes. I work as an engineer and at the drop of a hat have to be out on a construction site. Not many chances to wear cute shoes or cute outfits. I am going to try to reward myself with some fun casual shoes though.
I totally hear people with the saggy pants!!! My thighs are probably a size 10, but my waist is NOT. So I have some very saggy britches. Makes me feel frumpy. Especially in my oversize flannel shirts since it is butt cold here, haha.
I hope people can find some clothes in the interim period. I have a co-worker who is also doing IP (he was my inspiration to start!) and he is having the same issues trying to find clothes that fit during the transition phase. It is an awesome problem to have, but still frustrating to stare into your closet.
Right now belts are my friend. The D-ring closure kind so that they are fully adjustable.
I am a recovered shoe-aholic. When my DH and I were dating 25 years ago...during casual conversation he asked what I had done that day. I said I went shopping and he asked me to show him what I had bought. Apparently 10 pairs of shoes at the same time was very strange purchase to my man. My girlfriends didn't think it was so weird as they had their own bags of shoes from the sale. Anyway, somehow I kept the man and not the girlfriends. Probably cheaper that way. Now I never own more than 10 pairs at a time but I always look...
Wow...haven't been here in a while. So many people with "too big" clothes!
So, my mini goal #6 is met and I still need to post a pic. I'll do it this weekend when I pull out the hard drive with the wedding pics. I want to post my wedding pic from 7/7/07 and me in the dress now. Almost 6 years later and it fits better! I was POURED into the thing for my beach wedding.
When I discovered the wedding dress fit, I tried on some other clothes. A red dress I was hoping to have shortened and wear to a wedding in May is too big NOW (I could have sworn I weighed less than this when I bought it!)
I also found a black lace dress in my "too small" box that I need somewhere to wear NOW. Like just a great date nite or sumthin. It is smokin hot & won't be my size much longer (pics when I do the wedding dress pics)
I now have ONE box for shopping left in my closet (down from four). I'm wearing my smallest pants from the box (there is one smaller, they still have the tags. Guess I bought & then started gaining). All my other pants are pretty loose but I'm holding out that warmer weather will move me into capris soon! There are some summer clothes in the box that still look itty bitty.
I've ordered a dress for that May wedding. Ordered 2 different sizes so I can return the one that is too big...
Here's a pic (model is NOT me!)
Lisa - love that color of blue in the dress; you'll look great in it!Looking forward to seeing your pictures this weekend.
One of these days I need to have DH help me post some pictures. I'm horrible with technology and computers. I do the bare minimum on them and so anything beyond that DH has to help me!
Latest Buddha pic - I'm 17 weeks along so far and I have POPPED!!!! I can't suck it in anymore, but it's kind of nice to just 'let it loose' now and not be in the 'in between' stage...I am DEFINITELY showing now!
