Good news or bad,
using the Excel program that's on your computer to measure the correlation between the weeks and the loss
shows -0.421.
The correlation is negative as it should be but it's very poor.
And a scatterplot using Excel confirms this.
Of course, if other members publish a loss vs. time list, this correlation might be about average.
Average loss according to Excel is 2.3 lbs/week.
For comparing weight loss programs ANOVA comes in handy. You can make your own Excel spreadsheet to do this.
I took a 40 hour stats course at a NASA facility and that course has helped me enormously in interpreting all kinds of data, newspaper articles, etc., etc.
Stats can convert a matter of opinion into a matter of fact.
