Unhappy Ketosis

GM everyone:

I'm getting a little discouraged this morning with this diet. I know it's only been about 5 days but I haven't gone into ketosis just yet. I was told after 2-3 days, it would happen but nothing yet. Does it take longer? how does this work? Help!!!

How do you know you're not in Ketosis? The sticks aren't always right, every body's body is different, and don't stress, it'll happen.

Take a look at the scale in 2 days, you're only on day 5, it's like weighing daily, looking for ketosis constantly can drive you batty.

i agree with kaypix it is like weighing in daily
at first i used to weigh myself daily and it would drive me nuts up down up down everytime it's different
longer periods such as a week are a better indication
so dont get caught up on the daily 'results' or ketosis indicators.. its the long term youre after

You've only been on the program "about 5 days".

Why not wait a full week until your weigh in to see how things go? Better yet, don't judge your progress until 3 weeks.

If you’ve been doing this about 5 days and are already anxious, this is not a good thing. There are bound to be challenges ahead during the long haul. SUGGESTIONS = Be patient. Stop weighing yourself daily.

Good luck!

(and when you say, "how does this work" - are you doing this on your own or with a coach?)

I am not sure how you can tell if you'r in ketosis! Is it worth getting the stix to check every once in awhile? My coach is worthless, so she would be no help if I asked her!

How do you know you aren't in Ketosis? What are you basing that on? I would venture to say that if you have been following the program strictly for 5 days, you are most likely in ketosis. The ketostix can be helpful, but you can't get hung up on them. I know I am in ketosis and every now and then when I check, my stick very barely turns the palest shade of pink - but I am in and I know it. Don't get discouraged. Just follow and trust the program.

On my 5th day last week (week 1), I was feeling the EXACT SAME thing you are. When I had my first weigh in, I had a loss of a measly 1.4 lbs! I feel like I might have the same (or less) this week 2, so I fully understand how discouraged you feel. My husband on the other hand has lost a total of almost 10 lbs, exactly the weight I wanted to lose.

My coach advised me not to weigh myself everyday, too, but sometimes you really just want some kind of small encouragement to keep going and so you can't just let go of that scale. But we have to plod on, and trust in the program a little longer. Just know that you're not alone!
