Hi. I'm just restarting IP after falling off the wagon last September (well I wasn't too compliant July and August either) So I started 2 days ago and I think I over did the spinach because I've had to run to the bathroom 8 times in 5 hours! The immodium wasn't kicking in fast enough, so I had 2 pieces of toast... I'd like some advice, when you're sick how well do you stick to the rules? I'm great at making excuses to cheat
Ordered from thelowcarbgrocery on Tuesday 05/14/13.. order arrived Thursday 05/16/13--- 2 DAYS!! That is awesome.. between that, flat rate shipping, cheaper prices, and now the points reward system I am so shopping there from this point forward!!
I wanted to share what I found in the spice isle of our local Price Smart today. A seasoning salt from Hys Steakhouse that has no MSG! ( they also have one that does have MSG ). Ingredients listed: salt, spices, ( contains chili pepper, mustard ), dehydrated Garlic and onion, spice extracts, calcium silicate. Looking at the label everything is "0" except for high salt. I tried it at lunch and its very tasty - the high salt content shouldn't be a problem because even a tiny little sprinkle carries a big taste punch!
Good to know. Pete's in Bedford also has some IP friendly products (Green Valley).
I've been trying the Green Valley syrup's but for me, they don't compare to WF Think I'll stick to ordering WF online as it's much cheaper than purchasing at my IP Clinic.
For Canadian lovers of Quest bars.... Just realized that they are again available through thelowcarbgrocery.com! (I never completely understood why, but they were unavailable due to some sort of import restriction for quite a few months)
I'm close to the river but I'm high enough that I'll be safe. I'm lucky I can get to work since there are no blocked exits on the route I take. Which is important, since they are asking Alberta Health Services workers to continue going to work (I'm a nurse) - we can show our ID and get past blockages if it is safe so we can get to work.
It's pretty dramatic here. The pictures I have been seeing are unreal. I have only had a view of the river from far away. I haven't driven close to downtown to even see what that is like.

Fortunately We are far enough from the rivers to not be affected but my mom was evacuated and we have some friends that were as well, our downtown is closed until at least mid next week so I can't get to work other than that its been surreal watching this
For those on alternatives, what have you replaced your multi-vitamin with? I took my last one today and need to find more
I spoke with my doctor about my vitamins and he said the women one a day vitamin was good for the multi vitamin. I am doing alternatives for the IP diet.
The flooding here in Calgary has affect a couple friends of mine but luckily my family and I live high enough we are not affected. I have to admit our city is in dire straits because of this. For us that are not affected it almost seems surreal. We know it's our city but since we are not affected it still seems like we are watching from far away.
Re Vitamins: My doctor told me that we're taking too much calcium. It has been linked to lots of things, including calcium buildup in arteries etc. He said your body doesn't process it well anyway as a supplement. He also pointed out that countries that don't drink as much milk as we do such as Asian countries do NOT have more osteoporosis etc. so we don't need to intake as much calcium as we think. Just food for thought if you're buying your supplements.
I live in an area prone to massive flooding. The Mississippi, Missouri, and Illinois rivers all converge near St Louis. Spring floods are a way of life here
They have just re-opened some low-lying roads..
My thoughts are with any of our IP brother/sisters in the Calgary area. Stay safe!
