Jbhigdon that happened to me too. Be patient. Weight normally fluctuates so it is ok. Could be salt intake, or water, or just a tad too much skim milk in your coffee- wait that's me lol. I have to be careful about weighing daily because it can be a roller coaster. Quality weight loss that lasts does take time and ups and downs are part of it. For what it is worth, one day I gained a half a Lund but the next day I was down almost 2 so I look at the average. Really look at your eating and be sure you are on track and try not to worry! :-)

Jbhigdon don't worry. Your weight can fluctuate throughout the week. It could be water retention, issues with constipation, etc. Stay off the scale between weekly WI's if it bothers you when the number goes up. Stress can also keep you from losing.

Today I got up super early, had my coffee and headed out with the dog and some enzyme water for a 4 mile walk. Amazing. At first I was like, uh oh no energy, but then I think I literally started to fuel from my fat behind lol and therefore felt like I could walk forever! I had so much energy when I got back. Mixed up my fine herbs and cheese omelet and my Mio water and am loving life! Weigh in on Sunday looks like it will be a success, better than I had hoped, and maybe even in the 130's ( I dare to dream). This forum has been a god send for me on this protocol. Thank you to all of the contributors, especially Lisa!

Morning!
A lot of people recommend steak when eating out. Do you worry about the fat content? Not really a steak (meat) eater before this diet. Do you limit steak during the week?
Thanks !

Thanks everyone!!! I really know I shouldn't weigh everyday but I've weighed everyday (and watched it go up) for the last 2 years... It's a hard habit to break! I think it has just become easier to avoid!!! Too frustrating when trying so hard to see it go up!!!

I didn't own a scale for many years and just said "oh, the pounds are just a number" and then be shocked when I weighed at the doctor's office (denial anyone?).
I have a scale now and weigh everyday just because I like to see the smaller numbers - helps keep me motivated. But I really don't worry if I'm up a pound or the same on any given day. I know I've been 100% OP and there is no way I gained fat - just not physically possible. Water weight, sodium consumption the day before, muscle strain, etc., etc. can and does show up. So, I use my coach's numbers to really keep track and my scale just to keep myself motivated.
Have a great day all!

Thanks Ruth Ann, if I keep hitting the scales, I'll remind myself that I'm not cheating so no way I'm gaining fat!!!! I didn't realize muscle strain could cause the weight to go up. I've been doing yard work the last couple days (and with all the rain it has been like working in a jungle) so that could be my problem!!!
So very glad I found this place.... So much support and info!!!

Try a "tuna nicoise salad"...(canned tuna.. and HB eggs for the protein) on romaine lettuce.
--(no heating the kitchen at 5PM!!)
Substitute asparagus for the green beans and cauliflower for the potatoes..leave the olives and cherry tomatoes on the side for those who like and can have them...do your HB eggs and microwave the the veggies early before it gets hot they are better anyway if they chill in refrig. before you put salad together.
Dijon mustard viniagrette- can be IP friendly-
check mustard ingredients for 0/0/0
Almost any online recipe can be adjusted this way by swapping for IP friendly vegetables, and your family probably won't notice!!

Don't worry about ordering the steak..you've already given up plenty! You're not having wine right? Did you forget your not splitting the spinach dip with french bread rounds or the bloomin' onion with anyone.....!?
Order a lean cut...filet is the best choice and the size is just right. If you prefer a tuna/salmon steak grilled or steamed shrimp instead; most places that can handle a steak can handle that....(Ask about size and order two shrimp cocktails for your entree because they are often quite small)

I'm a little confused.... I thought I was allowed 2 eggs plus 2 egg whites as my 8 oz of protein. This was on my IP Phase 1 handout, but everywhere I'm reading that people are making egg white omlettes or using IP omlette product.

The newest protocol is FOUR whole eggs plus 2 egg whites for your protein serving (Feb 2013 IP P1 sheet)
Up until recently, IP said we could add anything that was 0/0/0 (carbs/sugar/fat)
Two egg whites fit t at bill & many of us have success doing it so find no reason to change.
Even the chef employed by IP says in his cookbook that a packet can be used in a multi-serving recipe and not counted.

Morning all. 107 here today- truly a fun commute to work. So over summer.
Question... I had ordered the Peanut Butter protein bars from Health Smart off of Nashua Nutrition, as everyone on the alternative thread had raved about them. They are, indeed, quite yummy. I was looking at the ingredients, and there's no sucralose, no stevia, no splenda... the sweeteners in it seem to be sugar & brown rice syrup. Is this ok? I feel like all of the IP products are artificially sweetened for a reason, and just concerned this particular product can throw my insulin or pancreas out of where IP got them to. Hoping this product is ok, as they're REALLY good!
Stay cool!
Jodi
