  • I have been on the program for 2.5 weeks. I came out of ketosis at the end of the 2nd week. Now I am trying to get back into it, but I feel like my side effects are much worse, especially today. I feel really fatigued and my stomach is really nauseated (TMI: needless to say when I use the bathroom it's not pretty). This didn't really happen to me the first time. Am I doing something wrong/do these signs mean I am getting close to getting back into ketosis again?

how did you get kicked outta ketosis?
  • My best friends wedding. I drank a few drinks the night of her wedding and had some food the next morning at the brunch...nothing awfully bad for you, but food that was not on the plan.

you should be back in Ketosis in 5-7 days
  • Okay thanks a lot!!
  • This was a really great breakdown of what Ketosis is. As I'm at the beginning of my journey, I often feel like I'm just being told what to do, and basically to shut up and do it. It's not that rude, but I haven't found the people/coaches where I go to be very forthcoming with this kind of useful information. Every little bit of info helps so much!
  • I test now and the. I always test as "trace" except for one time when I,was "small" and I lost 4.8 # that week. I drink 20 or do glasses of water a day and test when I get up in the morning (I usually get up 1 time at to pee each night).

I've been keeping track of me eating on Calorie Countand find that I eat about 50 - 60 carbs a day, most of them veggies I eat restricted a couple of times a week, but most days I'll have the chocolate shake, dark choc pudding and the broc & cheese soup. Sometimes I'll have the dill pickle zippers or the cookie. I found on Thursday I had 63 carbs so yesterday I kept it low at 40. Even 2 cups of cucumbers has 15 carbs!

My weight loss has been low - this week 1.6. should I do something different? My coach said that most of my carbs are "good" carbs (from veggies) so I shouldn't worry about it. She's new, so she's still learning. Some just thought it'd check in here.

Oh, just thought i'd mention that I'm also hypothyroid, I've been on Synthroid for about 25 years. I have my check up with the endocrinologist on Wednesday.

    I guess I see everyone else's losses and can't help to compare. I know I shouldn't.
  • Thank you for the information!
  • bumped again for the newbies
  • THANKS RISS!!
That helped me understand Ketosis a lot better!
  • Thank you! That REALLY answers my questions. I have no problem following the program, but I like to know why and how things work
  • Lynnie- I would love to hear how this diet effects your thyroid. I am also hypothyroid and am going for a blood test in a few weeks.
  • Thought I would bump this
  • Anyone use Ketostix? I just tested 15-40, This is my 4th day low carb. Is this normal for someone just getting into ketosis or there a sweet spot where most fat is lost?
  • I have used the sticks, they work, my clinic was impressed with the dark color of mine last time I used one. If you ask at your clinic they may give you a few. Mine did.
