I personally try not to mix the IP packets with the meat proteins, but the "official" IP recipe Chef with the books does it all the time. So its not a no-no or a mistake.
For me, I just dont want to lump my various meals together or I get hungry later on in the day.
But since the croutons make so many, you could easily sprinkle 1/4 to 1/2 a of the croutons on a salad with meat, then snack on the remainder about an hour later to ward off the munchies.
