Default Are hot dogs ok on IP?

Hello,

Could anyone tell me if Hot Dogs are ok on this diet? I mean I ate some on the weekend and was not sure, I thought it would be ok since they were 1% carb only per one.

I weigh myself everyday and see that I haven't lost anything this week yet, so I think that I cheated on my diet without even knowing it.

Waiting for your replies.

Thank you very much.

I've had turkey hot dogs twice and had fine losses both times. Not sure if we are supposed to but I did.

I am pretty sure hot dogs are off limits. They are processed high fat meats. The rule tends towards lean meats. The leanest cuts of beef, fish, chicken breasts and such. But I am pretty sure that your weightloss would not stall out because of a hot dog.

I'm with ya!

I am having a horrible week. May even be my first gain!

I have been analyzing it for days. I had 1 propel zero or powerade zero every day but 1. I went on long walks Thurs, Fri, and Sat. I didn't eat much of anything Sat or Sun. I've had bathroom issues since at least Friday. Other than that....I was totally OP! So which is it? Is it a combo of all of them? Ugh!

I also had Crystal light (which is not sweetened with Splenda) over the weekend, much more than a glass, I think 3. So this also may have played negatively on my loss.

What do you think?

I'd like to know about a cousin of the hot dog - a turkey kielbasa or a chicken bratwurst. Can I eat either of these?

I bet once you have a good "go" and get it all out you will drop a lot. Sick as it is my husband (just because he is a guy and gross) would weigh himself before going and after and drop 5 lbs. I told him he was full of crap but I looked at the scale one time and I guess he realy was full of it haha!!

I can only hope! My husband used to tell me, after working hard all month working out and counting calories and being excited I lost 4 pounds in a month, that he could go to the bathroom once and lose that. Real nice!

I was wondering, if any of you IP Pros can tell me if any of these would be IP-safe for a one-time thing? (I have a hot dog commitment with my sons.)

Applegate Farms Organic Turkey Hot Dogs: Each one contain 60 calories, 3.5 grams of fat (including 1 gram of saturated fat), 370 milligrams of sodium, and 7 grams of protein. 0 Carbs

Light Life Smart Dogs, (veggie): Each is fat free, has 45 calories, 310 milligrams of sodium, and 8 grams of protein. 2 carbs (1 sugar).

Hewbrew National 97% Fat Free Beef Franks: 40 Calories, 1 g Fat, 6 g Protein, 3 g Carbs (0 sugars.)

Ball Park Fat Free Beef Franks: Each is fat free, with 50 calories, 430 milligrams of sodium, and 5 grams of protein. 7 carbs (1 sugar).

Trader Joe's Uncured Chicken Hot Dogs: Each one has 60 calories, 250 milligrams of sodium, 2.5 grams of fat, less than 1 gram of saturated fat, and 9 grams of protein. I don't know the carb count. (I included Trader Joe's even though we don't have one, in case they do work, someone else might benefit from knowing.)

If not, at least it might help answer this question definitively.

Thanks!

Here's the problem with hot dogs:

- very high sodium
- low in protein

Even if you can find the low fat, no filler kind of dog, you have to eat four or five hot dogs to get the equivalent amount of protein in 8oz of lean meat. Most meats clock in at around 35-50g protein in 8oz. So the stats may LOOK good if you only eat one hot dog, but you won't be getting enough protein if you only have one. You could split the protein, and count one hot dog as 2oz of "regular" protein towards your dinner allotment. That's really the safest way if you have to have one.
