3:00 Hunger

  • I've notice that everyday I get hungry at 3:00 in the afternoon. I know that this will be a problem once school starts as we eat lunch at 11:30 am. So yesterday I had some celery sticks with a teaspoon of WF caramel. It really seemed to help get me over the hump.

    Does anyone else have a problem with being hungry around that time and what do you do?
  • I'm not on IP, but lately I've been splitting my lunch. I have a snack between breakfast and lunch, just something small, then I have half of my packed lunch around 12:30 and the other half around 1:30 or 2. It seems to be helping me get through til I get home from work around 5.
  • YES! I get hungry around 3-3:30 everyday, but I'm not sure if it's out of routine, boredom or actual hunger. I'm on phase I, and I moved my snack to the afternoon instead of after dinner. Here is my schedule:

    9:30am - breakfast (IP packet)
    12 noon - lunch (IP plus veggies)
    3:30pm - snack (IP packet)
    7pm - dinner (protein and veggies)

    I brush my teeth right after dinner so I won't be tempted to eat anything else after.
  • I have had this issue as well. I was having my snack mid afternoon instead of evening. That worked for a while, but now I get hungry after dinner too so I have to reassess....perhaps you could either split your dinner protein and have some mid afternoon or have your snack packet?
  • Just try to take a cup of celery/cucumbers/mushrooms to eat at 3, or a spinach salad with WF balsamic vinegar. I'm trying to take my IP snack around 4 but sometime i'm so hungry between 2 or 3, then I ate "unlimited" veggies, from 1 to 2 cup. It helps your stomach and your brain to be "full" for maybe 1 or 2 hours.
  • I eat right at noon so I'm good until about 4. Sometimes I get really hungry at 4 so I just drink lots of water and have dinner about 5:30. I used to eat a salad and veggies at lunch and then have a shake at 2:30 but was finding myself too full to eat come dinner. I need a happy medium. I was wondering if I could eat half of a bar around 4 and then the other half between 8-9 when I normally eat the whole thing. I may try that on the days I just can't keep it at bay with water. I've done pretty well with the water trick but maybe just a little something to chew would trick my mind.
  • HI, I'm not on IP and no expert but I guess this has to do with the routine of eating at the same time everyday. If you had your way you could wait till you were actually hungry before eating lunch. However if you aren't able to, I'll suggest low calorie veggie snacks like previously posted, whatever is within the IP range. Also, today for the first time in my life I had a green veggie smoothie with my oatmeal breaklfast (about 9am) and it filled me up so I wasn't hungry until about 4pm! I don't know if it's normal as I haven't ever done that, but I liked the feeling of fullness it gave me for a long time afterward. Nice if you can do it on IP and/or in school. Cheers!
  • I eat a salad with 2 cups of vegetables in it at around 1:00 for lunch and then save my IP packet for 3:30 or 4:00. I don't eat dinner till around 7:00. This way I am eating every 3 or 4 hours so I don't get hungry.

    my coach told me to have my snack then if that is when i was hungry instead of at night
  • I get really hungry at 3pm too and will have my snack then. I don't eat dinner til around 7 so i don't need a snack at night.
