Do you mind an aspartame poll
http://www.snappoll.com/poll/373743.php
I hope this is allowed. I am just trying to see what everyone does. There is so much conflicting opinion on this stuff and I keep finding crystal light and jello in the recipes even from my coach! I am trying to do No aspartame at all but I'm just curious how this will pan out. Thanks!

I actually find that when i chew or eat or drink stuff with aspartame..my body craves sugar and carbs worse...then when i use sucralose..so i cut the aspartame out so i didnt get the cravings for sugary stuff..Sucralose (splenda) doesnt do it the same way..

What was your question? An opinion on aspartame or do I use it? My opinion is that's it's poison (after all the research from this forum) so fine with me that it's not allowed.

I'm not sure if I got to vote because I had to go check that it was equal sweetener. No, it's not allowed and I don't use it.

I went 4 months without crystal light, was OP for a 10-day vacation, so I allowed myself crystal light as a special treat. Then I stalled for 3 weeks. I'm back off the crystal light now and things are moving again. For me, it's a "no" vote.
On the other side, I have lots of IP friends who use it frequently or every day and they lose at faster rates than me! So, IMO, figure out how your body responds, and listen to it. Good Luck

I tried to vote. It told me I can't vote repeatedly. I hadn't voted before. Don't use aspartame. Coach doesn't allow it.

hmmm. I don't think the poll is working. Oh well I tried! I find that interesting (and scary) that it could make you crave it more EEK! Its funny because I was having Crystal Light b/c my coach said to and then when I found these forums I quit because I didn't realize how bad it could be to staying OP! I'm not sure how much it affects me but it is still something that I really do not want in my body.

I haven't had any while on this plan but I was on another no starch or sugar diet a few months ago that said no aspartame and I had a bottle of flavored water from Walmart without checking and it was in there. I was in the bathroom all night after drinking it so I'm scared to have it again. That was awful!
As for your question though, it's just like anything, different coaches say different things. (I wonder if that's why they don't like this site? They know we all talk about how their guidelines are so different.) I was told I CAN have sugar free jello so I bought some. When I noticed it had aspartame I gave it away. I also almost had a drink of diet coke at my Grandma's Friday but remembered to check the label (had it been splenda I would've had a small glass I think) and when I read aspartame I knew I didn't want to hang out in the bathroom so I passed it up. I don't drink Crystal light either.

I am off the aspartame per my IP coach.
Actually, I limited it before per my neurologist, since I get migrains and I do believe it contributed to the headaches. I do know people who have it daily and lose weight and suffer no ill effects. I think it may be one of the things to watch if you are carb sensitive, diabetic or insulin resistant. It is certainly an interesting topic.

The results show only one vote. I think that must be you, WildF. Anyway, it's not allowed and I don't use it which is hard because Splenda hasn't been approved yet in Germany. A very small range of products available and the sweetener of choice is aspartame. I do use pure stevia, though, even if it takes a bit of effort to dissolve it. In the states you can get Stevita, which dissolves instantly.

I found out years ago that this stuff causes my migraines. I use Splenda in my one cup of coffee every 3 days or so.

I don't use and it is not allowed. However, I didn't use it before IP either. If I need to use a sweetner I use Stevia.

I stick with Stevia or Splenda in my coffee... though occasionally I will have a clear diet soda with aspartame - but I realize that it's a no-no!

My doc told me it was a no-no so I quit consuming it - so I thought. I had bought some stuff that I thought had Splenda in it, but in fact did not and I consumed about 300 oz of the stuff with my water. I still lost 2.5 pounds that week, but gave the rest of the packets away to my cousin. So I guess my vote is no even though it doesn't seem to stall my weight loss any, it's not allowed and really isn't good for you anyway.

Aspartame...is absolutely poison to your body. Do the research yourself, and you will find out how harmful it is.
I use xylitol. It is allowed OP and is the closest taste to sugar with HEALTH BENEFITS.
It does not seem to get the credit here and use that it should. It is a fantastic product and a lifesaver on the program.
