Stay positive Cat, maybe it won't be as much water as they are expecting. Its suppose to be raining here now but its not but I see y'all are getting drenched. Stay dry!
Check your map. I'm roughly 20 miles (as the crow flies) due west of Lake Maurepas and about 100 or so miles due west of you. It's those sporatic bands that get you. I've had a few come through already and from the looks of the radar, it's about to be continuous. Yucky!
I see now we have a named storm...Lee! Love the descriptive headline....."The system will act as a conveyor belt, dragging heavy rain into parts of the Gulf coast". Conveyor belt?????
I'll be fine as long as I don't lose power. My fridge and freezer are packed. I may end up feeding the neighborhood after cooking EVERYTHING on the gas grill! I may be Phase 2ing it whether I want to or not.
Jumping in here as I watched Mayor Landrieu declare state of emergency. Never get used to it. I'm in Harahan which is the direct path of every spurned tornado that travels thru New Orleans area. Last year I lost a fence and a tree in my front yard as it zoomed over. That's what worries me more. Other than that......we are hunkered down...plenty of movies to watch over the weekend. I just hope I don't get called back into work!
Me too...I think we are gonna get lucky regarding wind and tornadic activity. It's just lots and lots and lots of rain. And praying it MOVES out of here quickly. Big wind...baddddd.
Celtic.....I'm originally from River Ridge. Got lots of peeps in Harahan. I went to Hazel Park, Jefferson Middle and Riverdale! Garden Rd in RR? My turf....and those are the people I'm really praying for. Serious issues there. She told me she was heading home to get everything off the floor.
Well Im as ready as I'll ever be. Finishing my work day and then cooking some chicken and grill couple litltle sirlion steaks. And add that to my stir-fry pork loin in the fridge....this girl's good to go. Gotta have my protein stash.
Otherwise I'll be enjoying plenty of scented candles, my 1075 page Stephen King novel that I'm 200 pages into and the company of some excellent neighbors.
Well phase 2 is better than not OP at all. You are at a point where you are able to do that. We have started getting some of the outer bans also in spurts. I've done all of my running around so now I don't have to leave until next week, well I will have to meet my drivers Sunday but that is it. My youngest is driving in from Starkville for the long weekend, him and his best friend, all of the others decided to stay up north. He said screw that I wanna go eat some of my mom's home cooked food....lol...guess I'll be cooking.
Celtic good to hear from you, haven't seen you around in a few weeks was wondering how you were. I hope you don't have to get called back into work with this weather that would suck.
Hey Sista's, this thread is starting to get really close to 500 posts and with it being a holiday weekend I figured more of us will be able to post IF we can with this weather so I started a new thread for us Southern girls (guys, if we ever get one). We are going to keep this going with a storm approaching us are not...WE are STRONG!!
I know them. Your sister-in-law and I were friends in junior high and high school. When I left Kaplan for college, I pretty much lost track of all of my h.s. friends.
It's a very small world! LOL!!!

Any ideas where to get WF products in and around LA. I checked their website and they listed all the Winn Dixies, but Winn Dixie didn't know what I was talking about. I searched the diabetic section and regular sections. Even Whole Foods doesn't carry.
Guess I'll order a few dressings from website.
Not sure what part of Louisiana your in but, I found alot of WF products @ ROUSES Supermarket.
