Question Problems with flex anyone?

Hi Everyone...I have a question.....

I was told by my insurance that if I had a letter of medical necessity from my Dr. that the whole Ideal Protein program would be covered by my flex plan. When I submitted the itemized bill and my Dr's letter of necessity to my Insurance company, they stated that they will not pay for "diet food", but they paid for the supplements and the initial consultation fee.

I do not view these required packets that we use on this diet as a "diet food". When I think diet food, I think of Slimfast or something you can go to walmart and get. I see these as part of the "weight loss program" that is covered.

I'm going to fight this as my FLEX is my money that I had set aside into that account to pay for things like this.

Has anyone else encountered this, and if so...did you have any luck getting the FLEX program in your insurance to pay?

A followup. I just received a call from my Insurance Co and they are going to allow the entire claim out of my FLEX money. Apparently since my Dr did put a diagnosis in the letter that made it coverable, but the girl who processed the claim did not know that.
Thank goodness. Wasn't sure I could stay on the plan otherwise.
