That's awesome - the .pdf is very helpful. Thank you! @ragdoll74
  • Quote: I would suggest pure stevia extract instead of Truvia. Truvia has a high carb count.
    Thank you @nobylspoon !
I'm going to the supermarket today or tomorrow so will buy the stevia instead of truvia. Thanks for the tip.

Best would be liquid stevia. Powder usually has maltodextrin, which increases carb counts.
  • Quote: Yes - you can have 2 egg whites a day as a "freebie" or replace your dinner protein with 4 whole eggs + 2 egg whites.

My coach also allowed me to have a hard boiled egg once per day if I was really hungry and having trouble getting through the in-between meals.
Hmm... 4 eggs? That seems like a lot. I have been using 2 eggs as my breakfast and protein for the day; am I not getting the right amount of protein a day? My losses have been 5 lbs, 5 lbs, then 4 lbs.

When you compare 8 oz meat protein to 2 eggs, you will see you are not getting an equivalent amount of protein. 4 eggs plus the egg whites is a closer comparison. Yup. Its a lot.
but if you have 2 eggs in the morning, you can still have 4-5 oz of meat later in the day.
  • Frozen broccoli shrinks to half cup when cooked. AND broccoli is one of those veggies with lots of carb, well more than others that we are allowed to have. Do a test run on your broccoli and you will see
  • ? Broccoli? I'm confused..

I like eggs, but not enough to have 4 eggs in the morning haha. I did the two eggs cuz it holds me over a long time til lunch. I'd feel full all day with 4 eggs! But I'll take the 4-5 oz of meat later. Thanks!
  • Seaweed as a snack?
Can we have roasted seaweed as a snack on IP Phase 1? There's the SeaSnax brand and Annie Chun's seaweed too.

Seaweed is algae, which is the first in your list of measured veggies so yes you can have it. I believe the Seasnax brand is pretty low in carbs, just make sure you count it in your veggies - dried seaweed shrinks by at least half so your 1 cup serving would be 1/2 cup or less of the dried.

I eat these on hungry days. Some people really love pickles. I love these. They taste like chips to me . They are super salty, though. So make sure you drink your water! I learned that one the hard way
  • Has anyone come across the Mi0 drink flavors? They come in a little squirt bottle to add to water for flavoring. Are these allowed in Phase 1??? There is no aspartame.

Also, what about the Think Thin protein bars as a restricted item? There is no sugar and they are higher in protein (20g) but also higher in carbs. What would be a good carb limit to look for in alternative bars to have as restricted items?

    Thanks!

You will find MANY people on here that swear by Mio! I love the Berry Pomegranate one

Think Thin bars are way too high in carbs - with a majority of the carbs coming from sugar alcohols. Those can do a real number on your digestive system and some forms of them DO still have a glycemic effect on the body. Some companies promote bars high in sugar alcohol as very low carb because they subtract the sugar alcohols - but between the stomach issues and the fact that they can still raise your blood sugar, I do NOT recommend subtracting them.

Restricted items should fall in the 9g-17g NET carbs range (subtract dietary fiber from total carbs). The IP bars are all in the 11g-17g net carbs range.
  • I'm on day 4 of the plan but don't have any IP omelet mix.... can I substitute half a shake and an egg white omelet for breakfast instead?
  • Why not just have the shake?
