The only advice from the dr's office was take fish oil 2 times a day (of course I told her that I already take 4), and exercise (which I really don't do). Thank you Elizabeth for the post!

That's good news! Thanks, Novak.

Hi Kelsey,

I've been told when on higher protein diets your kidneys and liver can be affected (temporarily) causing the BUN/CREATININE levels to rise.

Did your doctor address the higher levels in regards to your kidneys? And give you her thoughts? or concerns? Regardless, when you met with the endocrinologist talk with him/her about the higher levels (bring your lab report with you). Endocrinologists aren't just thyroid specialists.

Nope, but I am trying to get an appointment with the Endocrinologists. They have faxed my dr's office asking for information, lab results etc., so maybe something good will happen soon. Thanks!

Hello to all of my fellow Iowans! Can't believe how many of us here are from Iowa.... it's crazy! Marion, I live in the CR area. I bet we have the same coach! How cool! Good luck to all of you!

I bought them early for my honeymoon in December. I've got one hanging on my refrigerator and one in my bathroom above the scale. Just a little motivation. The great thing about it is, I'm actually happy with the way I look in them. I know I've still got a little bit to lose before goal, but I'm so ecstatic with my progress! I <3 IP!
Awesome! That's a huge NSV in my book!

Yep, my HDL also went down and I was told that was normal and it would come back up.

Update on me...... Some of you may have seen my post that I had emergency surgery last week to remove my gall bladder. I had some stones that blocked my bile duct so my liver enzymes went crazy and I was severely jaundice. After having an ERCP done to remove the stones and removal of my gall bladder I'm a lot less yellow now and feeling so much better. So, with having surgery unexpectedly I was off plan. Today is my first day back on plan 100%. I'm actually kind of surprised that I made relatively good food choices while I was off plan. I could have gotten back on plan a bit sooner, but I made the choice to extend my time off a few days. I'm feeling pretty good and can't wait to get back into ketosis. I'm hoping to see a good number at my weigh in on Friday. I'm off work all this week, so I'm glad I'll have some time to check in here and read more than I have been. Overall, all is good here! So many newbies lately..... Big Welcome to everyone!

I actually was sick my entire pregnancies. in fact, that's usually how I discover that I'm pregnant. First one I only gained 10 pounds, the second one I gained about 5 pounds. My last one I weight 205 when I got pregnant and the day after I gave birth to an 8'14" baby, I weighed 195. People that had been seeing me every week at church thought we had adopted when we showed up with a baby. I've also lost babies on 4 occasions with the last one being twins in 2003 but despite all the difficulties and heartache, I wouldn't trade a moment of those pregnancies. ---I know, I'm a hopeless mom!

Kerry? She said she had someone else that was looking at the message boards. Glad to hear you are doing better and back on plan.

WTG Wyoangel. You had a terrific first week….keep it rolling!

Soon 2 B MrsT Not ONE but TWO bikinis!! The extra 50% off seals the deal!! You will look 2 Fab on your honeymoon!

I did find a "diet beer" for those who love it. My coach mentioned it to me and told me that as long as I eat clean foods the next day, I'm ok.
Your first week was great! Any reduction in the BMI is a “good thing!” I can’t believe that your coach was talking to you about beer. I’m thinking if you do that-those sweet weight loss weeks might become few and far between.

I love that concept, and am going to post it in several places around the house, I'll do better next time!

Crystal-I’m glad that you like the quote. I had to “get my mind right” before I started this journey. I am glad you are posting it in places where you will see it. Great idea!

I had my WI today. I was down 2 lbs. This is good, but the great news is I have moved from OBESE…to merely OVERWEIGHT. Yes, that’s how exciting my life is-hehehe! I hope to be at my goal weight by Halloween, it’s 14.5lbs more. My coach says next week I’ll begin <gulp> Phase 2.

As a side note-nope it’s not about sex or the sex drive, although I believe men would “drive” anywhere for sex! My hair just started falling out by the handful. There was a mention of this in earlier chats. I have been taking great vitamins and other Hair, Skin, Nails formula with biotin. It was rather a shock. I told my coach about this. She smiled really big and told me that it was a great thing!! She said when you burn “brown fat” it can cause your hair to fall out. I guess this brown fat is belly fat. Anyway, she told me not to freak out or worry. The hair follicle is not damaged or harmed in any way. She said that my hair will regrow and be better than ever! I’ll try to get more details on this next week. Every measurement except my arms went down this week!

Out, out brown fat!!

Try eating an extra packet and extra lettuce the first few days --- I was really hungry at first also and drank a lot of water!!

It's a Yahoo Avatar. Sign into Yahoo and create one with all the goodies they have to create your look and scene. I'm going to Italy in March for work...hence Italy. You can printscreen and save it in a photo program. I used Photoshop. You know...the same program I used to use to make myself 20 lbs skinnier with before posting my pics to fb
Thanks for the idea Spoyldrotn (like your screen name, too) - I already had a Yahoo avatar and just saved it in my pictures, don't have photoshop. Can't believe our avatars are wearing the same shirt. he he...I think I will go change clothes

Thumbs up Day Four

Ok, so I have completed day four. Today was my first day back to work since starting the IP program. I wasn't quite as hungry as I have been, but I still find myself needing a snack around 3:00pm. Would eating some lettuce with dressing be OK? I am hoping to be in ketosis by tomorrow and this hunger feeling will pass.

I am so encouraged by the success that many you have had on the program. I just hoping I will also have the same success. I have been on just about every diet out there with little success and hope this is the one.

You need to be doing packet and alternative food reviews. Personal, opinionated and succinct!

And, um, I guess are in order for your hair loss. Love your IP take on Lady Macbeth!

If you're hungry, check to see that you're getting all the food you're allowed -- all 5 oz of meat or 7 oz of fish, 4 cups of veggies, and unlimited lettuce. I find that if I skimp on something today, I'll be hungry tomorrow and sometimes even the day after.

If you're having all the food and are still hungry, have another packet. You can have up to 5 per day in the first week; I had an average of about 4 the first 3 weeks. The hunger does dissipate.

I love PB and missed it so much but even my obsessive cravings were not enough to get me to choke down the WF "PB" Yikes! Nasty! Nothing like peanut butter.

Each message has a box on the bottom right that says QUOTE. Click on it and that person's message will be quoted in your post. Right beside the QUOTE box is the icon for multi quotes. Use this one if you want to quote more than one person's message in your post. Hope that helps!

Beans are forbidden on IP. That said, canned, black soybeans have 1 net carb in 1/2 cup.

If you buy it without expecting it to taste like peanut butter, it's OK. I used it as a dip with my celery and liked it. But it definitely doesn't taste like peanut butter.

Wrapping up day 8 and I feel like I got hit with the sledgehammer. I actually called out sick from work...my head was POUNDING, I was sweating all day and soooo dizzy. I feel better when I'm moving around, but right now I'm dizzy as all get out.

I know there was mention of this before...someone please tell me that this will pass (and swiftly). I don't want to bail on this, but I cannot afford to miss anymore work as I am in an executive position. I cant drive too well this dizzy, and my commute is an hour each way.

Have not strayed from the requirements once (except that diet beer thing). Have been taking all vits and drinking lots of water (about a gallon).

I know I'm in ketosis...I can taste it (blech!) and anytime I have to pee, it is A LOT. And the headaches...even though I am dilligent about salt (I love it).

Please advise!!! I cannot go on feeling like I have the flu!
