Cool

I've been researching and reading your posts all summer. Now it's time for me to begin this journey. I've been to the doctor, picked up the first week of food and will start Monday. I just pray that this will finally be the solution for me as nothing else has worked in the past. I have a colleague who was very successful and introduced me to her coach. I'll keep my fingers crossed.

You'll love it here, and I'm sure you'll love IP!

I'm really pleased I only paid $30 for BOTH especially after spending $$$ on some stuff in June, a few weeks before I started inquiring about IP, little of which now fits me.

The sentence "I've lost pounds and inches." is good news to my health aspirations and short-term bad news to my inner cheapskate.

And I actually do enjoy the quiet of the early morning. But yikes -- before 5 am?

Enough "shameless overexposure" (last post in top 3 threads). Off to my real world life!
CONGRATS I'm Svelting!!! I to am happy at the change in my health, but have a hard time justifying the need to buy new clothes. Thrift/consignment stores are definitely the economical way to go. I've given up on wearing pants... One week they fit. The next week they're saggy and by third week the droop in the butt is embarrassing. For me skirts are the answer (until I reach goal and then I'm going to splurge on a great fitting pair of jeans.).

Thanks for waking up early I'm Svelting to get this thread started!

Off to do pilates and tone my bat wings...

If I'm not mistaken, this is Linden posting on the Saturday morning thread when it is only midnight in Hawaii--is that true? In which case we may have just broken the time-space continuum (or something like that!)

this happened to me a few times and lasted from a couple days to a couple weeks. It is the WEIRDEST feeling, I agree. But you are doing the right thing-force yourself to eat because otherwise your body will go into full starvation mode and it will not only slow your loss but you could do some damage. I'm in Phase III and I am finding the same thing to be true. Even though I am not in ketosis anymore on this phase, my appetite has TOTALLY changed. This must be related to the pancreas re-set? So maybe when it happens in earlier phases there is some chemical re-org going on at a very deep level. Just keep the supplements, water, oil, salt and food coming and your body will perform it's miracles!

I have to thank you all too. I went round and round with my doctor over the past 10 years with my tsh at 4.2 and them telling me "it's marginal, but its not bad". I'm going to have to go in there and get into a specialist.

Let me add my CONGRATS to Svelting--great job, you must feel on top of the world today for your losses!

EmmaJayne: good work on your travel: that is so HARD and I always do the overpack thing with packets too--nice job staying on plan even when outside your normal life situation--you are building really good skills for the rest of your life!

Tricia: regarding the morning person thing, I have to agree. I could NOT be less of a morning person. When I was growing up, my brother used do joke that my first words each day were "what's for lunch?". Through IP I have been finding I still love to sleep in when I can, but generally once I am awake, I am almost instantly alert. None of the 20-45 minutes hitting my snooze and trying to de-fog my brain. An amazing benefit

Regarding cheat dreams: I had a few, including one where I was in some kind of earthquake/horrible rockslide situation and trying to find shelter. There were some houses I knew were safe, but they were the ones that if I got trapped there for a few days, I knew they would not have anything I could eat on plan, so I kept going door to door while all these boulders were flying around me, trying to find a house with lo-carb foods! The good news is, I just had my first Phase III plan: I was in some kind of chase sequence and I had to scoot into this small opening and down this tunnel. In my dream, I ACTUALLY SAID, "well, darn good thing I've lost all this weight or I could not have done this" as I was climbing into the space! Is that freaky weird or what??

Good morning/afternoon! I have a non-scale victory today (especially since my scale went up this a.m. and the elusive "Onederland" is keeping me at bay) -- I just finished a 2-mile super walk w/Leslie (Walk Away The Pounds) and feel great! My daughter joined me in the walk; we both did the one mile and then I used the resistance bands for mile 2 and she jogged on the treadmill. She is so sweet and is giving me such encouragement to keep on plan and finally lose this weight!!

I love reading all the successes and tips on this board. Today, I've taken special note of tips for travel and tips for looking into smaller size clothing. Consignment/thrift stores and/or skirts - great ideas!! On my previous weight loss journeys, I've had two sizes: tight, tight 18 when make myself start and an okay fitting 16 by the time I fall off the wagon and sabotage all my good efforts.

I am happy to say that I am in a loose fitting 16 right now ---- I am nervous but excited that I might actually try on a size 14 in about 2 weeks. I'm not going shopping for 2 weeks so I can find a cute outfit for my 20 year HS reunion. Now, if I actually could try on a 12 I think I would faint! I haven't been in smaller than a 14 since after having my 1st kid almost 16 years ago!!! Lane Bryant and the Women's section have just become part of where I shop. I have a very hard time visualizing going back to the Misses department. Will it really happen?!? Should I finally, once and for all, pack away my size 18's?????

Thanks so much for this response....makes such good sense and it's good to know I'm not alone. I'm to the point where when I eat, I'm actually gagging. I just looked at the clock and it's 1:09 p.m....time for lunch...and I felt a sense of dread. I'm trying to figure out the lightest things I can eat and still stay on track. Will have to quit the omelets for a while. It took me almost an hour to eat one this morning. So far I've eaten everything I'm supposed to except one day I had to skip the final snack. I just could not do it. I'll start having their jello more often. It's small and easy to swallow. Congratulations on the progress you've made!

Good afternoon, everyone.

I've been in here reading like crazy, but haven't had time for a leisurely post.

Another Friday evening conquered! No cravings, no cheats, no worries! Never thought I'd say that - now 3 Fridays in a row!

Emma Jayne - Great job at your seminar! And way to go on being insistent at the restaurant. Most chefs are glad to accomodate - you just have to ask.

upnorth - Welcome! You'll do fine on IP. I'm in my third week and I'm truly enjoying it. And the people on this forum are so helpful and inspiring, you can help but succeed!

Shouts out to everyone out there! Any big plans for Labor Day? I'm just going to my sister's house for a cook-out. I'll probably bring some veggies to munch on. I haven't told my sisters that I'm on IP yet. I'll just have a burger with a salad and veggies, and no one's the wiser.

Hey, all. I didn't get a chance to post after my last weigh-in and before my cruise ... so here's the good news: In less than a week, I'd lost 5 pounds! For a total of 15 in one month.

Just got back this a.m. from my Alaskan cruise and the good news is that I gained less than a pound over 10 days (and factor in its my TOM and that pound looks even less significant). I really tried to stick to the program, and had a protein bar as my afternoon snack instead of something from the buffet line.

But what I was amazed at is that I actually had the willpower to succeed! This diet is sooooooo empowering! I actually couldn't wait to get back home and get right back into Phase 1 again, as that's so much easier than to be constantly having to make decisions.

Anyway, just wanted to share with everyone. Can't wait to sit down and read a week's worth of posts from everyone.

Smile Grocery Store NSV

I have a small NSV that I'd like to share! Last night I went grocery shopping with a list for asparagus, lettuce and cucumbers. And I came home with .... asparagus, lettuce and cucumbers

So often in the past, I've been ... shall we say, "distracted" by other goodies, etc. when at the grocery store but not last night! Admittedly, I felt up a package of Twizzlers AND a package of cookie dough, but they didn't come home with me.

Happy Labour Day weekend to everyone!

hi Advocatemom!

Congrats on a good workout this morning. As I mentioned in a previous post
I've exercised from the beginning and believe (for me) it's been a key factor in not only
losing the weight, but a great stress reliever.

It's great your daughter is supportive and what a role model you're being for her!

Don't just pack up your clothes; pack them up and haul them off to the thrift/consignment store when you go looking for smaller sizes. It's a great feeling being able to purge the "fat girl clothes" (sorry, that's what I call them). Permanently getting rid of the clothes is a conscientious decision of allowing you to believe in yourself and weight loss journey 100%. You've dieted and lost in the past, but this time you're doing things differently and you will succeed. Believe in yourself. Trust your body. Keep having a good attitude and outlook. Onderland is just around the corner.

Now go get rid of those big clothes because you'll never be fitting in them again!

The food is delicious, but the thought of eating makes me sick and I'm miserable while trying to finish it.
I've gone through periods like this as well -- it'll pass, but you're never as insatiable for food as you were before. Also, always eat your nighttime snack...it keeps your body from burning muscle at night.

After about two months into the plan, I went through my closet, tried everything on and gave AWAY all my size 14's and 12's. (My personal version of your 18/16 dillema) Honestly, I now know I have the ability and resources with this plan to keep myself from getting there again. It was such a liberating feeling. Good luck!

Happy long weekend, all!

I have to admit, mine are all sitting in a pile in my room and I've resisted taking them. My DH's are there too (He lost 30 pounds and most his tummy). New resolve: taking them today! Thanks for the kick in the rear!

Yes, I have 2 huge boxes of stuff ready for Am-vets...they will think they hit the mother lode.

This isn't a recipe but is soooo good I thought I'd share....I found tiny silicone ice cube trays (21 cubes per tray) on one of the major shopping channels... Poured a little Walden Farms Chocolate Syrup in the bottom of each, topped with some WF Peanut spread mixed with some of the WF Caramel Syrup, then topped them off with more of the WF chocolate syrup, and popped them in the freezer....they turn out like peanut butter fudsicle cups. Because the trays are silicone, you can just push them one at a time up from the bottom and your treat will pop out. They come with covers and are the greatest...I've gotten several sets for holday gifts. A marvelous 0-0-0treat for when you need a sweet.

For anyone trying to decide about phase 2, for me it has meant a big increase in weight loss. I've lost 4 pounds in the 9 days I've been on phase 2. The prior 2 weeks I lost 0 pounds. The only difference in phase 2 is 2 IP packets instead of 3 and a protein lunch like we have at dinner.
Besides the weight loss, the other benefit has been more energy so I've really walked 2 miles every day. (which of course helps with the weight loss) It is ALL good!
I agree with you about the sleep, besides the weight loss, i love the fact that I get up out of bed every day at 4:45 to walk. I feel fantastic in the morning and I sleep like a baby...except when I have to visit the ladies room
