Hockey Mom23 05-03-2010 09:30 AM

Good Morning friends! I had a self-proclaimed "no computer" weekend, it was great but now I have a little catching up to do.

I had the Cappacino today for the first time - WOW did I like that! Time to get more of those! We travelled on Saturday, I packed a cooler with my IP veggies and drinks and it went well for the most part - except lunch at Ruby Tuesday. I had salad bar, and did fine until I got to the salad that has broccoli, cheese, bacon, and some sort of light mayonnaise-type dressing on it. *sigh*. Sunday was a hard day for me, too - the weather here was overcast and cool and windy, just felt like munching all day even though I wasn't hungry. I ended up at the gym, walking on the treadmill for an hour.

I'm reading Women, Food and God - very interesting book. I've started thinking about my goal weight, and maintenance. Quite frankly, I'm a little freaked out about it - especially when we were grocery shopping yesterday and I looked at "forbidden foods" and thought, "I could easily snap and binge like a mad woman." My oldest son is causing a little stress in our lives right now - it all clicked when I read a few chapters in my book last night. Thankfully yesterday was a 100% IP day, and I'm working hard at putting my fears to rest.

Sorry for the long ramble. Hope you are all doing marvelously! I'm aiming for the 180's this week, please scale Gods be nice to me. Cleaned out my closet - wowzers, 3 large garbage bags of clothing that no longer fit. What a great feeling! OK I'm done rambling now - off to try to catch up.

WyoSun 05-03-2010 09:55 AM

Woohoo Sassy!!! Way to go. Congrats.
HockeyMom2...Don't you just love cleaning out the closet. Mine is looking pretty bare.....can't wait to get some new "little" clothes!!
Did the Rocket Fuel yesterday. I gained 3 oz. this morning. LOL I'm pretty sure it was water, but I'm a daily weigher so....we will see what it looks like over the next couple days. As a daily weigher, I don't freak out about my weigh in each day. I go by my "official" weigh in each week. Just like to see the scale move!!! Still hoping for the 160's this week. That will put me within a couple pounds of my DH. Can't wait!!!
CW....I'm thinking about you this week. Even if you don't post since I know you will be otherwise occupied.....have a great time with hubby!!!!
jordana....how's your computer? I miss you.
Have a great day all!!!!!!!!!

I'm pumped, feeling good, and ready to go today!!!

Good girl!

I logged in to make sure you had gone ;-)

carlasherea 05-03-2010 10:55 AM

I was feeling a little discouraged yesterday because I weighed in the morning and weighed the exact same as 4 days earlier:( To my surprise this morning, my period started! So that explained why the scale hadn't moved and why I wanted to cheat (but didn't) very badly this week.

jordanna 05-03-2010 12:47 PM

Hey everyone, weighed in this morning and I was down 2.3 which I'm happy with but I wanted to do 60 lbs in 15 weeks and I'm 0.6 lbs shy of that...oh well.

Congrats Sassy on your loss this week!

CW - I'm thinking of you, you must be getting so excited for your husband to come home!!

Have a great week everyone!

Congrats on 2.3, way to go!!! Have you made a decision on your Xweigthed documentary---was that what it is called?

newsiemom 05-03-2010 03:44 PM

CW, how fantastic to finally have your husband home. Can't wait to hear about it!
I'm officially back on the IP bandwagon and it feels great. I'll have a bad weigh in today, but will be back on track next week.

Rocky Monarch 05-03-2010 04:29 PM

Back from the first weigh in.
two weeks, 11.3 pounds and 7 inches, and 3% off my BMI.

That's it, I'm officially the Incredible Shrinking Woman!

brocola 05-03-2010 04:33 PM

I tried those protein drinks from Costo, and it wasn't half bad. Def easier and cheaper to get a case of those when I need it!

Anybody else tired of people asking what diet you're doing (I promise I'm not bringing it up), you tell them what it's all about, then you get all these comments. The best one is "You don't want to get too skinny". Yeah, that's something that keeps me up at night..that and winning the lottery!;)

Back on track after last week's fiasco. The scale is moving oh so slowly. Wondering if my body is tired of IP. I'm giving it until the end of June, hopefully by then I can lose some more, then work on maintaining.

Interested to hear how eveybody liked that Women/Food/God book. Thinking I should look into it..

Have a skinny week!

Rocky Monarch, what a fantastic first weigh in! The first one gave me motivation to stick with it.... here's to success!!

CW, enjoy your time with your hubby, those first few days back are like meeting all over again - love it!

ckanable 05-03-2010 06:25 PM

Great job on the losses and NSVs!! Here's to pounds that never come back and clothes that will never fit again! :bravo: :cp:

[quote=showgirlaz;3274047]Thank you! My coach is pretty stern about how the plan goes. I don't know anything about lengths of time. I just know he doesn't intend me to transition to phase 2 until I reach my goal. You are right about the differences between phases 1 and 2 though. I would love to have even 1 restricted but I feel guilty when I add just a tablespoon of tomatoes too a salad! I thought for my sanity, I might request to stay in phase 2 while I lose the last 20. At least I have the advantage of having 2 normal meals a day. Maybe it isn't an advantage I don't know. Maybe living off packets and salads is easier! Truthfully, most of my weight came off the first 3 or 4 months. In the past 6 weeks I have only lost 13 pounds. I say only, and I am grateful but, I will be on this quite awhile longer as things move along slowly.

The packets are convenient but my friend cooks a lot of lean turkey patties (I like the Kirkland Turkey Patties in the frozen food section at Costco), lean ground beef, chicken breasts, etc. in advance, freezes them so they're ready to go.

It's easy to boil a couple dozen eggs, grab 4 hard-boiled eggs and eat 1 and the whites of the remaining 3 w/ yummy sea salt. She has lost more in the past 2 weeks since giving up the coach b/c he was stressing her out and not wanting to allow any room for alternative anything! She felt that 120 days was too long to stay on full restrictions. I'm amazed at how she's still losing pounds and inches having put herself on phase 2.

I'm kind of following the guidelines she used in phase 1 but can't afford all IP so have found EAS, real eggs, and other items to substitute for the $$$$ IP stuff. I have lost 9 pounds in 2 weeks and feel pretty good. We're both staying away from the New Life Styles and Lindora products that have aspartame and / or HFCS. We have also found that 3-4 oz of canned tuna is a good IP packet replacement comparable in calories, carbs, fat, but it's real food!!!! With a couple leaves of romaine, it's very satisfying! I just know that by the time IP products were purchased (and the TAX really added up, too) and she spent gas $$$ to and from a stressful "coaching" session, she realized she had spent enough after 90 days and could manage almost better on her own. She's still losing inches, she's saving gas and IP $$, travel time to and from "coaching" sessions that were not healthy for her.

I think the "keeping of sanity" is so important, too! I saw a couple others posting comments about IP not really addressing the "emotional / mental" aspect of dieting. I know the 1/4 bar each AM is enough to keep me sane at this point and I am losing pounds and inches.

Talked to Linda L. with New Lifestyles Diet and she informed me that the ready-to-drink shakes are all on backorder; that NLD isn't even taking orders for them right now. If you look at the SHOP portion of their website, they even removed the RTD tab for now. She said to watch the website; that NLD is hopeful that they will be able to take orders for the ready to drink shakes by mid to late May. Also, for those of you who have ordered these New Lifestyles Diet RTD shakes: is the nutritional content / analysis exactly the same as the IDEAL PROTEIN nutritional content? Linda said she's had consumers tell her that the packaging is identical except IP's has IDEAL PROTEIN printed on it and NLD's has NEW LIFESTYLE DIET printed on it. So, final ? is: Are the nutritional content and ingredient list identical?

Hi Brocola, Actually, the Costcos I shop at have several different ready to drink "protein drinks" so I don't know which one you tried. Some have as much as 28 carbs so I really had to study the labels before buying the PREMIER NUTRITION brand. They came in a case of 24 and are DISTRIBUTED by Premier Nutrition out of Carlsbad, CA but now I'm wondering who packages them and where. An 11 oz "shake" has 160 calories,30 grams of protein, 3 grams of fat, 5 grams of carbs of which 3 are dietary fiber and 1 is sugar. Unlike IP / Matol shakes, these are like the EAS AdvantEdge ready to drink product b/c they have added vitamins, minerals, etc. These by Premier Nutrition are quite tasty---better than the EAS AdvantEdge so I sure hope I'm really getting what they list on the label!!!

Just tell folks you've cut back on your carbs and you're trying to get some healthier protein into your diet. The shakes help with that and are convenient. They don't have to know the name of any protocol, etc. The "you don't want to get too skinny" comments are so ridiculous, aren't they?

kellyrook 05-03-2010 08:17 PM

I'm starving. I don't get it. I've been doing IP for 12 days now and things have been great. Appetite has really diminished. But today! Oy vey! I've already had my crisis snack (pudding) and a bar. I guess I've cheated but I figured it was better to do so on IP food than other stuff. Is this normal to be so ravenous, out of the blue?

brocola 05-03-2010 08:27 PM

ChimpChamp: Yes, those are exactly the drinks I got from Costco. I was looking for a larger pack of the EAS when I found these. Also, my MIL works for a diet doc so she gave me these packets..I think the name is Nutrimed? And Procal? Need to do some research on these. Anything to save a buck and lose weight!!

And yes, not discussing IP w anyone again! I'd rather lie and say I'm doing Atkins!

Where are you at with your monthly cycle? Could it be pms? That is how I get but you had much more self control than I seem to have. You made a good choice having the IP food instead of a candy bar or chips.
Great Job!:carrot:

Hi everyone! I have a question. Has anyone else had a week where they have not lost a single lb, and they have truly not cheated? It is not my TOM, nor approaching and this week was a bust. It was like I had hit the ground running, and week 4 was a total standstill.

Thanks everyone! It is great to see the NSV and the lbs lost for all of you, it truly does help to keep motivated.

Chaplains!!!!!! I hope you are able to get some sleep tonight with are the excitement ahead. You have been incredible, and you deserve the most wonderful 2 weeks with your hubby:) I will be thinking of you with a huge smile on my face tmrw afternoon.......YAY!

I am sort of in the same predicament... I am in my second week on IP, doing Boot Camp with no restricted items whatever; I am following it precisely. The first week I lost 6lbs and now, since then I have lost 2 ounces, that is it. I am so bummed and I really shouldn't be hopping on the scale every two hours but I am desperate to see it move more than 2 oz! It isn't my TOM either and I am getting the sea salt in and all the water... I am hoping that its my scale but somehow I don't think so:?: I hope the weight finally decides to budge... maybe we need additional snacks. Right now i'm just doing 3 IP packets and one meal but I have been told that you can up the packets to 4 and a meal...it scares me to eat that much ironically!

motiv8edmama 05-03-2010 10:26 PM

CW- How exciting to get your hubby a day early!! I can't wait to hear his reaction to how hot you are looking, oh, and his reaction to the pics you had made for him...enjoy your time together!

I am down 2.8 for the week. That is good with me. Exactly 3 to go and will be even with my DH, can't wait!

Well, in other news. My mom is my gym partner. Today she had to meet with an ortho doc and was told she can no longer go with me. She has an extreme case of arthritis in both knees and needs total knee replacements in both of them, and supposedly going to the gym is only making things worse for her. The catch is she weighs too much for surgery so they want her to loose some. How is she going to loose without exercise?? So...I told her, why not join me and eat how I have been. She wants more info and is going to think about it. I told her if she decides to go for it, we would bring her dinner each night as she eats tv dinners now (she is not so good at cooking for 1 and my dad drives truck). I am praying she goes for it as I am so worried about her deteriorating health. She is about 5'1 and about 330, small boned and can hardly walk now. So...here's hoping and praying my gym buddy becomes my diet buddy!

Have a great week all!

newsiemom 05-03-2010 10:33 PM

Kellyrook, I get the same way right around my TOM. I see BlueMermaid already commented and just wanted to chime in. It's crazy hunger for a few days and then I'm totally fine again. The scale usually is very nice to me the week after TOM too, so it's something to look forward to. Nice work on not cheating! Keep it up!
Oh yeah, I had my weigh in today and gained 1.2 pounds after a week off IP, not even phase II or anything, just off. So, I was relieved it wasn't more and told my coach I'm back with the program. I know some of you have coaches that leave something to be desired, but my coach is fantastic. She is always encouraging and keeps me motivated. I guess I'm lucky.

pitakitten 05-03-2010 10:39 PM

best dinner ever!! marinated skinless boneless chicken thighs in lemon juice/tarragon/garlic/salt/saffron over night. Grilled for 40 mins, served with baby bokchoy and chopped salad. Very yummy and sooo good. there is life after rice!! :)

here is hoping that my peroid stops as it has been going on for a while now AND that by friday I see the scale move downwards again.

Hey everyone, I've been reading over all of your threads like a stalker the last few days and I'm glad to say I just ordered my IP stuff from Ideal to Go!!! I went to my sister's wedding a month ago, whom by the way has always been a size 0, I tried on dress after dress with my mom trying to stuff me in a size 20. I left the bridal store with no dress and fighting back tears. I also have a wonderful fiancee that is constantly getting frustrated that I have a hard time believing him when he says I'm beautiful. I realize that if I don't believe it myself I'm definitely not going to believe it from anyone else, I feel like I've lost who I was with all this weight I've gained. I'm ready to regain my confidence, I'm sick of looking at pictures and thinking, "Do I really look like that?" My bestie in Cali started IP a week ago and she is the one that told me about it and after reading all the success that you ladies have had....I CAN'T WAIT TO START!!

Calgarygirlie 05-04-2010 02:12 AM

Naynai! Welcome!!! You will be so happy you have started this journey. This forum is fantastic for support, and tons of advice... Let us know when your "goodies" arrive! And by the way you ARE beautiful, now you are just about to become OUT OF THIS WORLD!!!!

Hey Ladies!

Yes, I get RAVENOUSLY hungry at weird times. USUALLY it is related to my TOM coming. Occasionally, I ate something that had a sugar, starch, or sugar alcohol or citric acid and didn't realize it. Like when someone else tells me the cooked a perfect on plan meal for me ;). It goes away pretty quickly. Once I did it to myself with too many higher carb veggies. Another time with too much lemon juice. A third time was when I tried to use fennel. I also had some WEIRD span of time where, from week 12 to week 15 I was JUST HUNGRY!!.

Yes, I don't lose as much as I use to either. I frequently see between 1 and 2.5 pounds. I have had many weeks of no loss at all and a few weeks where I actually gained a couples of ounces.

For me, my TOM is crazy. On average it starts every 23 days now (sometimes 21 others 28 and I might spot for 3 to 5 days too) Then I go for up to 10 days. I can't wait to be done just so I can see my body cyclesgo back to normal.

I barely lose anything just before TOM. Gain during. LOSE between 3 and 6 the week after. I average 12 or so a month.

HopefulTricia 05-04-2010 08:01 AM

WyoSun- I did rocket fuel for a day too with little success. I did eat some lettuce or celery too but otherwise just 4 IPs. Still didn't help me get to the elusive 180sss. I would have done it a second day but had a dinner to go to Sunday night. Trying to just stay on track and be patient.
Any day now it just has to happen....
Hockeymom23- Got my book yesterday. Have just read a little bit but I know there's some good info there for me. I really liked cleaning my closet some too but felt guilty about good clothes that have to go... did you feel that way?

I think you will really like the book. Sometimes I stop and re-read things and I can almost see the lightbulb going on in my head. :) I did feel guilty about the clothes. I gave three bags to a friend of mine who isn't as far along in her weight loss journey, and donated the rest to a local thrift store that raises $ for cancer patients. So....that was a little less guilt-inducing. My husband was in awe of my empty closet. I'm sure he's taking bets as to how long it will take me to fill it again. :dizzy:

Ok Im trying to stay calm ... My husband comes home today .The kids still think he is coming tomorrrow .They are going to be so surprised:) . Bad news is I got my TOM last night ! Can you beleive it ? My husband is not going to be happy about that .LOL . Sorry you guys probably dont need to know that .

Ok so I have been doing the Rocket Fuel thing the last three days .Not really noticing a big diffrence besides my energy level is down . Going to do it again today then back to the normal diet . Not sure how these next two weeks are going to go but we will see. HAve a great day everyone .

penguin0199 05-04-2010 10:07 AM

Starting day 5 of IP today. I've gotten over being hungry all the time, unless I eat later than normal, but I'm finding it hard to get in all 4 cups of veggies and sometimes the snack IP. I'm just too full to eat all 4 cups and when it comes time for the 3rd IP package I'm still usually full. I have never eaten much to begin with and I was lucky to get 3 meals in. Any ideas on how to make sure I'm getting all of it in?

Journeysend 05-04-2010 10:19 AM

Hi Everyone....Well unofficial weight today (WI on Thurs) and I was 210, down 18 lbs since I started March 12!!!! I am LOVING IP!!
